Does the glass shelf fix to the brackets by some kind of securing screw?

The glass shelf slides into the recess on both brackets and is secured by a hidden screw tightened from underneath the bracket.

How long is the shelf in inches

13.78 inches. It shows the full measurements on one of the pictures. I bought the double shelf for all my perfumes and I am delighted with it

More brushed or polished metal?

I fitted this for my Mother-in-law, some time ago. From what I recall, brushed metal, not polished. Quality is good, and reasonably easy to fit. Hope it helps.
