Great book, just needs better pictures to be 5*!
Having seen both raving and ranting reviews before purchasing this I wasn't too sure what to expect. Having received mine I thought I'd offer my own opinion into the mix! I haven't had a chance to watch the DVD yet so apologies but won't be commenting on that! Pros - Good variety of recipes included - I can't imagine turning to this book and not being able to find a single recipe I'd like to cook. Some other reviewers have grumbled about the recipes being too complicated and having to make lots of things like sauces separately - I don't really get this as the book does clearly state ways to shortcut extra processes either by not making sauces or stocks from fresh, or making things well in advance (i.e. 2 days before) so it's not too much of an effort on the night. Although understandably the entire menu isn't included as the menu changes frequently there are ways to make what you want from the current menu combining recipes - e.g. the coconut and ginger curry sauce acts as a great base for making your own take on the Chicken Raisukaree currently in the restaurant! Recipes are clear and easy to follow. I also like the introduction which outlines some of the principles underlying Japanese cooking, made for interesting reading and has actually made me think more about presentation and flavour whilst cooking. Cons - Personally I would prefer the recipes to be organised by type, e.g. Ramen, Curry rather than by main ingredient - but then that's personal preference! I'd also like there to be more photos of the finished dishes in the book (possibly my biggest gripe with the book as only half the recipes have pictures and most of these are artistic close up shots of noodles or someone tossing veg in a wok... pretty but not very helpful if like me you enjoy visually picturing what the finished result should look like before starting!) You have to have a good imagination to feel motivated to try some of the recipes, although the short descriptive caption of the recipe under the titles does help. Also as a final minor note I find the contents quite difficult to navigate as others have pointed out. Overall I'd definitely recommend getting this book, the only reason I didn't rate it 5 star is the lack of decent pictures, but hopefully this will be rectified in the next book!

Wonderful Book !!
me and my partner love Japanese food - but eating out is expensive - so bought this book used - but in excellent condition - and loys of pictures and simple recipes to do - and comes with DVD - all the ingredients you can buy from large supermarkets and Asian Food store - also lot more cost effective - would recommend better world books and use again -

FAST FOOD BUT DELICIOUS
This is a great little book, and nearly everything can be done in minutes. The recipes really incorporate the techniques and recipes used in Wagamama. Hence they are fast, healthy and delicous. A great book for those who want great food at a premium speed. And, who doesnt run out of time at night?

Someone needs to proofread this better
Someone did not do a thorough edit of this cookbook. The first recipe I turned to, Amai sauce states it's with vinegar, soy and ginger. However, there is no ginger in the recipe at all! The next page, the coconut ginger recipe sauce, in the directions it states to add 'mikku' powder. It doesn't call for it in the ingredient list nor does it offer an explanation in the special ingredients list in the front of the book what mikku powder is. Worse - the vegetarian dishes are not truly vegetarian. Most contain fish stock (dashi)- and ingredient most vegetarians consider 'meat'. Most of the recipes are workable if you've cooked Japanese style before and know where to switch up some items. Overall - disappointing book, there are better out there.

Easily recreate your favourite Wagamama dishes!
This cookbook is amazing! I can now - easily - recreate some of my favourite Wagamama dishes in my own home! The Yaki Soba and Chicken Teriyaki are my favourites, but everything I've tried so far has turned out well (which is quite unusual for *any* recipe book). The only downside is it doesn't have some of the newer Wagamama dishes, but despite that I would still recommend this to anybody who enjoys Wagamama (or Japanese) food. (PS - I've not used the DVD, so can't comment on whether it adds anything or not).

Excellent Book
I love the food in Wagamamas, and coming from a desperately bad cook, I never expected to be able to re-create the recipes - they're surprisingly easy. Only downside is that the book is missing a few favourite dishes of mine, however, a lot of the included recipes can be tweaked to make them. Great book, and certainly worth the money

Love Wagamama

Maravilloso!
Excellent range of unusual wok recipes, just like the Wagamama restaurant dishes.
