A surprise menstrual cramp reliever!
After reading about the benefits of Lactoferrin I started taking this supplement to better assist with iron absorption and work with the probiotics I’m already in the habit of taking. The appetite suppression has allowed my metabolism to work better as I practice new better eating habits and increase my activity. I now work out 4 times a week and I make sure to take Lactoferrin with my probiotics every morning. It’s been a month of consistency and so far, I’ve lost 6 pounds! To my surprise, taking Lactoferrin has significantly reduced my period cramps to where during two cycles I had none at all. I started taking it a month before I got into my current health regimen so although my diet consisted of junk food and no exercise outside of my ~7,000 daily steps, my cramps that are usually extremely painful have pretty much disappeared. Another thing, I’ve always gotten a decent amount of sleep (7-8 hours) but I have noticed that I feel more ready to take on the day. I love it!

Great product
Great product to improve my cat’s immune system. My cat has a condition that his eyes always has lots of discharge. After blending lactoferrin in his wet meal. His condition gets better now.

Trying to Increase Ferritin Levels
I am trying Lactoferrin in hopes of raising my ferritin levels as ferrous sulfate hasn't really been working, or it has been working slowly. I like that I can take this any time and that it is easy on my stomach. The pill is really easy to swallow, similar to the size of a multivitamin, there is no taste. I will know in 3 months when I re-do my labs if it is helping, so I plan to take it daily in hopes this does the trick! I have not experienced any negative side effects after taking it for a week.

Good Quality, Reasonable Price
Works well as a supplement. I feel a slight boost in energy and immunity, though it’s subtle. The only downside is the price compared to other brands, but I trust Jarrow’s quality.

An Unexpected Pain Reliever!
10 stars! After over a decade of recurrent achilles tendon problems (plus heel spurs), it had gotten so painful that it often kept me awake night. I'd begun limping badly several months ago, which started causing sharp hip pain on the opposite side. I couldn't wear shoes because of the swelling, couldn't walk a quarter mile or be on my feet more than 20-30 minutes at a time -- my whole lifestyle was shut down. Went to yet another orthopedist, this time desperately demanding action, not more useless ice and rest and walking boot again, and am in the process of a workup for probable major achilles surgery, which I wanted done tomorrow! Meanwhile, I'd started taking 500 mg lactoferrin for a minor skin irritation - I'd read about it but had never used it before. Not only did the skin clear completely in 4 days, but now, a week after starting lactoferrin, the ankle/heel and the hip pain are unbelievably improved - occasional twinges or achiness, but where it was a constant 5-7 pain level plus 10-spikes before, it's mostly a 2-3 now. In addition, the swelling around the heel is going down - the tendon itself is thickened from scarring, but the reactive tenderness and inflammation is way, way down. Turns out there is emerging research that lactoferrin reduces pain as well as inflammation by interfering with pro-inflammatory cytokines, by balancing out the excess iron that can aggregate around inflammation or infection, and it seems to modify chronic and acute pain perception, in part by binding with brain-level opioid receptors. So now I'm perfectly OK waiting 6 weeks until after the Holidays for any surgery to repair the underlying damage... last week I might have killed anyone who suggested that.

Potent and Effective
This brand is potent. Unlike a lot of other supplements where I just hope it’s doing something but can’t really tell, this stuff has a noticeable effect right away. Within the first few days, I experienced side effects of just feeling crummy, like my immune system took a dip. I’ve read other people experience the same thing at first, even though the dosage isn’t that big (that means it’s potent). I decided to take it every 2-3 days for a while until the side effects subsided, and now I’m taking it every day. I’ve noticed that, in general, I feel less stressed or anxious or depressed. That result by itself is a big deal and has a lot of positive downstream effects. Apparently lactoferrin does other cool stuff too. I guess I’ll find out.

I think it does something
So I've had a rough year this year and because of all the illnesses and I suspect the use of an antibiotic, my immune system took a dive. Particularly my RBC and WBC were affected. They were so low I was recommended to a hematologist. Before I got the appointment- which took forever, I came across some posts about this supplement. They were all very positive and so are many of the reviews. I got a UTI and while I was on IV antibiotics I was hit with a virus that later caused skin eruptions and then later I came up with another positive urine culture. That time around I opted not to do antibiotics but I was so ill my GP wanted blood work which revealed the low counts. She said you're not iron deficient but it's like you're losing blood. Then my OB took blood work and it revealed the same thing a couple of weeks later and both doctors agree I needed hematology. Hematology took blood and the first test revealed there had been no change and all of the blood tests happened within about a 3 month span. So basically I was stable. I had been taking some vitamin Eand a couple of other immune supporting supps for about a months before the last test. The hematologist put me on polysaccharide iron- which had great reviews, but I had been studying natural healing and many sources said to stay away from iron pills because infection feed on them - I was fighting a couple. What was suggested is lactoferrin because it is supposed to make shire that iron is used by the body without being used by pathogens. I started with 500 mg. I noticed nothing. I was still extremely exhausted and one resistant infection persisted . I was hoping for it to kill Proteus miribalis which had been the source of my UTI among other things. Imagine i took it I noticed nothing at all. Gradually I felt my strength and appetite returning but I never attributed it to lactoferrin. I was also taking Perfect Desicated Liver instead of iron because again among natural healing circles it was better than iron and it you look at the reviews people boast about miracles on this stuff. So I only took very little polysaccharide iron and then none at all just the Perfect and Lactoferrin. Well my next visit indicated my iron levels had dropped-- now they were not even stable like they were when I basically only took Vitamin E and maybe some vitamin C. Of course I was very frustrated and I felt nearly defeated. I stopped lactoferrin and Perfect altogether because I wondered if they had actually contributed to the drop. Fast forward about two weeks later: I had to take a steroid for an ear issue but I noticed that I felt very different. Like my body was missing something. My bladder started to feel weird, but I wanted to complete the steroid without any supplements. And I did but as soon as I could I started with 500 mg lactoferrin. I noticed nothing really... But then I think the r resistant infection started to rage after the steroids and 500mg wasn't going to do it. So after a minute I used 1509 mg the way I had previously been doing and I began to feel slight relief. So while I can't put my finger on it- I think lactoferrin helps me but it didn't help with my iron counts. I think orbit some way helps my bladder health-- possibly because of its ability to inhibit certain pathogens. And it helps at 1500 mg per day- nothing less- which is pricey but I think it's helping. It's a hard decision to choose if I want my RBC to drop because of a supplement because it helps my bladder. Again, I'm not sure if that's what caused the drop- but it is very odd, because I was super sick while it was stable and then with the lactoferrin I didn't feel as sick but the numbers don't lie... But if anyone has ever had a resistant infection and a bladder infection then you understand the toss up here. Bladder issues are the worse. Now I'm getting IV iron and taking the lactoferrin so my next labs are in a month and if it drops again I would be comfortable saying it's the lactoferrin but if not then I'll update and increase ton4or 5 stars.

Results - Lab tested and proven (for me)
I took an evvy test and learned I had 0% protective bacteria in my body. I was told to start taking a high rated lactoferrin in addition to my "good girl" probiotics and kefir. I did and this is the ONLY change I made to my supplements and diet. In 3 months time, I went from 0% to 23% protective bacteria which is a massive shift in my microbial gut. So much so, that my doctor even asked what I've done different. It was this. It's pricey for a probiotic but it clearly works so I'll keep shelling it out.
