Does it need batteries or a power supply?

The pedal shown in the picture is a roland. is the pedal actually the roland ev-5?

The pedal I received was exactly as shown in the picture, with "Roland EV-5" embossed in large letters. I have two of them which I use with my Nord Stage 2 - one as a control pedal, and the other for organ swell. Both work perfectly with "Roland EV-5" selected as the pedal type in the Nord's menu. If a Roland EV-5 is what you want, this is it.

can this be used to switch from one amp to another amp

I really wouldn't think so or at least, it's not something I would try myself. I suppose there's no reason why not, apart from there might be an unpleasant circuit 'pop' as you operate it, so try it first with the volumes turned down on the amps. I use mine for soley for operating a drum machine and am pleased to report, it works perfectly. It is annoying that you have to keep removing the leads when you finish, as that is the only way to turn it off and not run the battery flat.
