Homesick & Utterly Disappointed
I love, love, love Panera Bread. Both my children worked there for a while which was great!! Oftentimes, I would run from the Colorado foothills down to Denver, when my mom was dying from lung cancer, and get us Baked Potato Soup in a bread bowl, and I would sit on the floor next to her bed enjoying our soup and watching a movie with her or read a book to her. I moved out of the country almost 10 years ago, and this is one thing I get really homesick for a lot. Imagine my delight when I came across a Panera Bread Cookbook!!! Now imagine my utter disappointment when I discovered there wasn’t a Broccoli & Cheese Soup recipe or even a Baked Potato Soup recipe, nor do they have a recipe for bread bowls…. All my favorite foods and none of these can I find in the country I now live!

Not just about bread
I should have used the 'look inside' feature: this book is one third bread recipes and two thirds sandwich recipes. That's fine if that's what you want (although I'm not convinced that anyone needs sandwich recipes). Might be of interest to US readers hooked on Panera cafés. It's also entirely US measurements.

Great recipes. I especially liked the sour dough starter. I bought the book for my sister, and now it's on my Kindle!

They quit making the Rye Bread in the stores....
which I really liked. This cookbook has that recipe in it so now I can make my own!

Excellent results
I tried several of the recipes and got excellent results for the most part. The text also provided interesting background information and a bit of history of the art of breadmaking. I shared the info and bread that I'd made with quite a few people, some I knew well and others I became acquainted with, so it ended up being way more than just an interesting book to read! I may never attempt the tricky appetizers but the basic bread, i could handle.
