A great little sound system! Clear as a bell with a kick like a mule.
I was a bassist for 40 odd years but due to illness I can play stringed instruments anymore and was going mad without the ability to create music so I have just bought myself a little JD Xi synth to play with, the only trouble was I only have rather huge bass amps to play it through, it sounded OK but a bit uncouth and wallowing, plus it was much too loud to keep my neighbours on side especially when I play into the night, I don't like wearing headphones to play through as 40 years of electric music has made me deaf as a post and I end up with them distorting and being ruined within weeks (many top brands), I tried my stereo system but thought better of it after tweaking the synth's filters and almost blowing the woofers, I was at a loss, everything I tried sounded like mud, I was even thinking I had to give up music for good and was going to give my synth to my son I was so fed up with it and then I heard a Roland CM-30 at a local bar, I was so impressed by it (not the people playing through it) that I bought one the next day, it has plenty of punch and enough finesse to make my synth sparkle with the fizzy stuff and still be able to sound like a dub bass + drums galore all at the same time without a glitch, you can have it flat or add some colour, the EQ is simple but very effective, my ears are hearing more than I have heard for years because of the clarity of this little monitor, the amp really is good value, if you are sick of a muffled sound and you want to hear what your instrument as it is supposed to sound then I can recommend this little box of tricks to do the job very well indeed, I will be getting another as soon as possible to hear my keyboard in rich and clear stereo, a marvelous buy.

Hmmmm....some issues.
Quite heavy. the rear mounted handle is in the wrong place it should have been central on the top. As it is you still need to use your other hand to steady the unit as it swings forward. I've seen a couple of used units with the black cabinet coating chipped off so might not be as tough a finish as it looks. The control knobs are small and of overall lower quality and finish than other units in the current Roland line-up. Also a bit fiddly if you have large fingers like mine. Out of the box it has an annoying sticker across the top of the speaker grill, some owners have reported that removing this can peel off paint so I used a hair dryer but it was still 10 wasted minutes cleaning up the last of the glue residue. I'm using the unit to amplify stereo MP3 music from a smartphone. Using a stereo 3.5mm male to male cable which plugs in the back of the amp. Not really as loud as I'd hoped for to be honest. Will obtain a stereo 1/4 inch jack version and see if the other input gives more volume. Frequent pops and phasing sounds between tracks that I didn't get using my previous amp not sure what is going on here. Sound quality Ok so far I hope it may improve as the speaker 'wears in'. Overall at the moment not 100% happy with this but will persevere.Update January 2016: I have just bought a 2nd unit so that I now have a stereo pair. The link cable you need is just a 1/4 inch jack to jack cable (mono) which is basically the cable you might use to connect a guitar foot pedal to an amp. As a stereo pair the sound is quite amazing with a really clear sharp sound and great stereo separation plus plenty of bass if you want it.

Amazing sounds for its size - it is really tiny ...
Amazing sounds for its size - it is really tiny but still throws out enough volume that I have it on 3 for home use with 2 synths.I am now looking for the micro bass cube for bass guitar practice.

well made small monitor
I bought this to act as a table top fiddle monitor/preamp and as a small speaker/amp for a dance class I teachIt does both really well except for a slight lack of volumeIt's very nicely made, has enough inputs and outputs, tho I would prefer more XLR and fewer jacks, and gives a good enough mono soundBut as it isn't quite strong enough I should have bought the next size upmea culpa, so I won't mark it down for that
