This really works! P.S. Mind your fingers!!!
I have double glazed windows. The windows upstairs are difficult to reach, I have tried all sorts of things to get them clean, but nothing has worked. Though some reviewers mentioned that this did not work for them, I just had a hunch and had to give it a go. I bought the powerful magnet suited for 18-30mm double glazed windows. It's quite straightforward, you separate the two halves by twisted the handle 90 degrees, by the way these magnets are extremely powerful, word of WARNING, do not hold them too close to each other while you prepare to clean your windows as they WILL pull together. This happened to me, twice, first time it locked my fingers in-between and I actually struggled to pull my fingers free! The 2nd time it missed my fingers, but I struggled for ages trying to prise them apart in the end it took two of us to release the magnets. The two halves are then placed in water, I didn't use soap in fear of it not working properly, didn't fancy a load of suds on the outside window, (but next time I will) I just used warm water and white vinegar. My video shows my 1st attempt, not very good I'm afraid, I am not moving it correctly. I soon realised why the magnet on the outside fell off a couple of times, another warning, make sure you attach the safety wrap to your wrist because until you get the hang of this, it will fall off. Always move it in the direction of the pointed end. Don't be tempted to move it back and forth as if rubbing, as it will fall off. By the time I reached the 3rd window I felt I had mastered it and it no longer fell off. The 4th window was a doddle! I am extremely happy with this window cleaner; my upstairs windows look as new. Thank you.

Like all tools it has its limitations
I read lots of reviews of the different magnetic window cleaners and decided that I didn't want to pay for for cloths, bags, gift boxes, etc. I just needed something to help me clean my velux windows. I measured the thickness of the double glazing and found they were all 28mm, which apparently is fairly standard in the UK, so I bought the 20-30mm model. Another reason I chose this was for the separator that goes between them when not in use. Other didn't have this but gave you a lever to prise them apart instead. As everyone says, the magnets are powerful! With the separator it is easy to twist them apart. They come with a couple of spare pads and squeegees. I soaked them in warm water with a bit of stardrops in it. I was a bit nervous of putting them together on either side of the glass as I imagined they could smash together so I tried sliding them together. This didn't work very well because in some positions the magnets repel each other, it was fine just putting them together as instructed. My windows were VERY dirty! I had to go over the glass several times to get the worst of the grime off. The squeegees work quite well but it is difficult to get a completely clean window with just them. This wasn't a problem for me as the main thing I wanted was for the filthy water to run off into the roof rather than into my rooms which happens normally when you rotate the window to clean it. The string was a bit of a nuisance sometimes, getting under the pad or the squeegee, but as I got better with the tool it was less of an issue. The pads got very dirty, but this rinsed off well. The main limitation is that you can only clean where you can get the inside handle to. With the velux window this left about 3-4cm top and bottom uncleaned. That wasn't an issue as I could clean this with the window rotated, and it certainly saved a lot of splashing and dropping dirty water into my rooms. It is a well made tool that requires some practice. Like all tools it's only a good as the tool that uses it!

Almost effective but mainly stressful!!
I was really excited for this and opened it straight away! My thoughts below: The instructions are clear enough despite being written in pidgin english. I would recommend going a strength higher than you think is necessary. Mine lost its grip fell a fair few times - luckily the cord did not give way as others have said. However, I'm on the second floor so when the cleaner dropped the first time, it smacked very hard into the window of the apartment below me. As a result, when cleaning going forward I felt the need to keep the cleaner on a very tight cord meaning it was all a bit awkward. If you accidentally get the two magnets close together then good luck to you. This happened to me at least 3 times even though I was being careful. Twice I had my finger caught in between and OMFG it HURTS. In other reviews people describe running to their husbands for help. Well I'm a 23 year old by herself who had no-one to help me. Yes there were tears. Luckily I am reasonably strong so managed to prise them apart but this took at least 10 minutes each time. Lastly I also found the final result a little smeary. The photo above was from the very first window I cleaned so the pads weren't dirty yet. I did keep cleaning them throughout. This is when it was very hard to not to get them to touch. My windows were really quite dirty so maybe it's partly due to that, but it was underwhelming. I thought about going over a second time but as I found whole process so stressful I've decided against. I won't be using this tool again, I think I'm traumatised.

Scratches the glass
See my latest update at bottom of page. :-( Was sceptical and thought id probably end up returning it. I put off buying this for months because if bad reviews. Have a window above a conservatory so can't get to it from outside even with a long pole. Tried it today on filthy windows with a strong mix of hg cleaning fluid which i already had. It's quite juddery but it actually works. Windows were filthy so not a perfect finish on first attempt. Will try again at weekend and report back. Dropped the outside bit once when rushing but the safety string did its job. Only reason for 4 stars it's because it's like having dynamite in one hand and a lit match in the other. Just remember not to let them touch as per the other comments. My glass has a 28mm gap and i got the purple one. I think the strong cleaning fluid solution probably helps lubricate the motion. Im fairly optimistic about this gadget. Update: when just using pure water without the hg cleaning fluid it kept falling off the window. Also it doesnt get stubborn marks off that have been there ages (er, like 6 months) but still does a good job. Needd a towel or something to finish off the last corner where you stop. Would recommend, with those caveats. New update 21/11/21: sunny morning and spotted the glass has long scratches on it. Not happy. So despite all my other positive comments I have changed my rating from a 4 to a 1. Can not recommend.

Works Great! Would recommend
So I was a little anxious about buying this. Lots of mixed reviews online, with most people saying the magnet falls off the other side if you have double glazing. I ordered the 30mm magnet version, and our double glazed windows are, I think, 24mm thick. Thankfully enough, the magnet has a tight grip on the outside part, and (so far) the outside grip has not fallen down on me. I do understand what other people are saying about potentially catching your fingers, but it's a magnetised product.. I'd assume that most people would fully expect that they could potentially catch their fingers when operating a product that works solely on the basis of two magnets slamming together. They do provide a plastic centre piece for when you're storing away the grips, so that they remain somewhat separated, to make it a bit easier to get them apart from each other. If you are unfortunate enough to have them close together without the centre piece (ie; magnet to magnet) you will have a little bit of a fight on your hand to separate them. That said, these are all fairly minor issues. I might alter my review after a couple of months of use, if the magnets lose strength or the product somehow deteriorates, but as it stands, it looks like a very well made bit of kit, and although I've only had it 2 days and cleaned only 4 double-glazed windows (so it's still very new to me) I felt compelled to put up a review to at least let other people know that it does indeed work, but just don't cheap-out and go for one of the lesser strength ones, as I think this is what causes a lot of disappointment to other reviewers.

Care needed, but works really well
This does a good job, but it's not easy to use- definitely do your research first to make sure you're using it properly. The instructions that came with it are almost useless, but I watched some YouTube videos and read some reviews and it works really well. My windows look absolutely amazing! But my heart is in my mouth when I'm using it as it always startles me if it falls off, and it squeaks loudly which makes me nervous about scratches. I bought the highest strength one for my double glazed windows- I was scared it would be too strong, but it's definitely not - it's just the right strength. Some tips I've learned from others in my research that worked well for me: 1. Make sure you have plenty of suds so it glides over your windows and doesn't scratch 2. I practised first with just the indoors side on a mirror. 3. Press the indoors side onto the inside of the window first, then place the outside section on the outside of the window, but slightly above where the indoor section is. Then gently move one side up/down to meet the other and they'll gently latch together. 4. With the arrow head facing upwards, wipe from side to side and from the top down first, to clean. Then go back up to the top right corner and point the arrow head to the left and move the device towards the left, then when you get to the edge turn it so the arrow is pointing down, move it down to the next section and then move it back to the right again, carrying on with this down to the bottom (working in arcs works well too) 5. If you're carrying both sides at once, carry them in separate hands. They absolutely can get your skin or finger stuck between due to the strong magnets. 6. There will be a small spot in the top corner that the device can't get to. It's just a small downside for the benefits of using this convenient device. 7. Occasionally if I lose concentration and start moving too fast and not smoothly, the outside bit does fall off. I always make sure the cord is around my wrist and only allow the necessary length of cord outside the window to allow me to reach the furthest area of the window, to make sure it doesn't fall further than necessary if it does come off. Despite needing some extra care when using this device, I would definitely recommend it for high up windows where you would otherwise need a ladder / hire a professional to clean them. It does a great job.

Rubbish
Got the "strongest" one but nah doesn't work. Everytime I tried to move it it just fell off. After a few attempts I gave up was cleaning it to put it back in its box and noticed the clip that held the sponge on was snapped. And that was without even getting a chance to use it! More Chinese tack thats swamping amazon. Will look elsewhere for an alternative.

Pretty good
This is quite a good bit of kit for windows that are otherwise completely inaccessible - our 2nd floor sashes can only be reached by sitting outside them on the parapet- no thanks. It takes a bit of figuring out how to get the bits aligned out and in, and they didn’t quite reach all the corners. Plus you have to wipe where you take them off the window and it wasn’t a perfect finish like a proper outside clean would do. The bottom left pane has been cleaned in the photo. But given that we’ve never been able to clean these any other way in 14 years, it’s definitely better than nothing and they seem like a pretty solid unit. The magnet was powerful enough stay on the double glazed panes as long as the movement was steady, and I was able to manage it safely no problems having followed the instructions carefully.

Very dangerous!
I ordered this product so that I could wash my 5th floor windows more easily. I'm afraid of bending over and I thought the idea was brilliant. There are videos on the internet showing how to use the product. Unfortunately, the magnets used are extremely powerful and it's very dangerous to break a finger if the device closes on your hand as it closes at an impressive speed. My husband also refuses to use it, as accidents can happen very quickly with this product. I do not recommend to buy this product.

Works great
It works great, the magnet is strong enough for control from the inside and clean and dry both faces of the window .

Hoe moet je ermee starten ?
Geen Nederlandstalige uitleg wat je moet doen voor je er mee begint te werken. Is dan ook niet handig om er mee te werken.

Very strong magnet!
We probably got a model that was too strong for the thickness of glass to be cleaned. Took a lot of effort to move the device due to the strength of the magnet. However, the result was amazing! Highly recommend

Extremely helpful product. Be very careful when using.
Amazing, saved me from the trouble I had for years of not being able to clean that one thick stripe of the sliding window which goes underneath the other one when you clean it with your hand out taking that space. Very easy and the magnets performed as promised. The code does a good job catching it in case it looses the force. In fact the magnet is so powerful that you have to be extremely careful when you handle them. It claps back quick and hard that once I got a cut on my finger tip. As long as you are careful and keep it completely away from children, this is an extremely helpful product.
