Forest Functional Helmet

Top quality helmet ,of course as expected from Husqvarna .Took 10 mins to assemble as per booklet.Tried it on a few times to make adjustments until it fitted my head snuggly but secure. Absolutely love it, and i know i can wear it all day, no problem because it is light and very comfortable.It is also came supplied with a rear neck cape to keep rain from running down the back of my neck, if i`m working out in the rain.The ear defenders are perfect for me, and comfortable with a reassurring firm fit around my ears.They can be turned backwards and up, so are out of the way when not in use. A very highly recommended piece of essential chainsaw kit.

They don't make helmets like they used to but this one is a popular fit for many and has a more solid feel than many of the Stihl models. The ear cushions can also be replaced cheaply. Has to be self assembled which is fiddly and the face shield visor doesn't fit at all

We have four acres of grassland dotted with multiple trees so our lawn tractor and pruning equipment is in constant use - as is our shredder. Up until now my husband has just used ear protectors and a woolly hat for protection. However we were horrified to see that the frames of his glasses were chipped and realized that this could only have been caused by constant us of the shredder - even though he was unaware of it. After some research we felt that his Forest Functional helmet was worth a try - we were right. He reports that it is very comfortable, light weight and that his vision is unimpaired. The ear protectors can easily be flipped back when needing to communicate with others. The woolen hat has been abandoned in favour his new helmet for protection when he uses the lawn tractor - no more scratches on his head and good protection from the sun. I did think long and hard as to giving four or five stars for this helmet - it arrived un-assembled and with instructions that were meaningless, it was finally put together by a process of guesswork and an on line video - but the supplied visor was a non starter and was left off. I finally plumped for five stars to reflect the comfort and peace of mind and value for money that it provides, and also - if we needed another one - we would buy the same again. With the above in mind I think the helmet is worthy of it's five stars.

An extremely well made helmet , it has a strong wire mesh visor that has a clear view. The ear defenders are of excellent quality and have a good level of ear protection. The Hard hat has an adjustable headband that provides good comfort. I have used various top makes over the years, but now that I have used this make I doubt I will change as I am extremely happy with this purchase!!

There is confusion and incorrect pictures against some of the Husqvarna helmets offered on Amazon. There are (Sep 2015) 3 levels of Husq helmet spec plus a fourth for above ground work. The specs are relevant to prices of course. Lowest spec is the Classic (or gardener's), then the Forester (here called 'Professional') and then the Technical at the top. The above ground is the Arborist. Specs and names may change and details can be got from the Husq own website. The most visible (in photos) differences relate to the back-of-head adjustment strap and the visor (for one of them). The picture on my order confirmation was different from that on the product offering/description so I got confirmation of the spec from the supplier before delivery! The assembly instructions are in poor English and the pictures are ambiguous, in particular the ear-muffs-to-helmet and visor-to-arms fitting process are unclear. It takes quite a push and click to achieve some stages of assembly and makes one nervous about breaking the parts. However, a bit of thought and experimentation got me there in 7-8 minuites. This replaced separate specs and earmuffs I have used for last 40 years of chainsawing - in part because I was uncertain about the clamping effectiveness of helmet-mounted ear-muffs. Very comfortable (a bit hot), ear muffs clamp to side of ears better than standalone muffs and can be 'opened up' more easily than moving standalone muffs when pausing, you don't notice the visor after a few seconds. Some dust can get behind the visor so I wear safety specs as well (I think others do a helmet with integral safety specs). When not on your head the whole unit is an inconvenient shape and is best kept on a hook or post if the visor is to avoid damage. Replacement ear muffs and visor are offered in one or two places. Update Jun 2017: Found the helmet very hot at first and after a few months I drilled out about half of the blanked ventilation holes in the top of the helmet. Not sure why they are not drilled out during manufacture. It was a great improvement. Take care not to use too large a drill bit or force a blunt drill as this may crack/weaken the helmet.

My 'better half' finally snapped, and I received a right old ear bashing! Why, I hear you cry? Simples...both when strimming and using my chainsaw, I have had debris hit me square in the face...luckily missing my eyes...both of them! So, following the latest 'accident', her indoors insisted I purchased a safety helmet. And, as I always do as I'm told, and following no little research, I decided to purchase this item. It arrived promptly...and in bits. The instruction manual is not great to be honest...very small print...and the illustrations are not terribly helpful. Anyway, managed to fit most of the 'bits'...eventually...but fitting the sun visor proved impossible! I tried numerous times to fit this damned visor, and eventually succeeded...but do they have to make these things this fiddly and difficult! Gleefully putting on my brand new, shiny helmet, I instantly felt I was in a Star Wars film! It looks really cool...and makes even moi look like a professional! It's comfortable to wear, and the mesh does not impair one's sight at all. Good purchase.

J'avais hésité avec son petit frère 30 € moins cher mais les commentaires m'ont fait prendre celui-ci. Il est super en plus je le trouve sympa. Très bonne protection, confortable, tient bien et pratique. Tout d'abord le réglage de la taille par crantage qui ne se dérègle pas. La grille de protection en métal qui offre une excellente vision, elle n'apporte aucune gène, elle est juste invisible. Le mécanisme de relevage fonctionne bien. Les protections auditives sont bonnes. Comparé au casque anti-bruit 3M Peltor Optime III (une référence) que j'utilise habituellement pour les autres travaux, la sonorité est différente mais le niveau sonore ressenti est similaire. Donc bonne protection pour une utilisation prolongée. Le tout respire la qualité. Je l'ai utilisé pour 6 heures de tronçonneuse pour débiter un gros chêne et pour des arbustes ; Juste parfait. J'ai fait une 10ène d'heures de débroussaillage de taillis de ronces, une boucherie. Les impacts font le bruit de la grêle dans une voiture :-), j'en ai reçu pas mal, la protection a fait sont job et n'a pas bronché. Le casque est confortable, rien à voir avec ce que j'avais avant d'une marque connue à la couleur orange. Comme relevé par certains, le montage semble un peu compliqué au premier abord. Je n'ai trouvé aucune notice et pas de détail sur l'emballage, juste une photo. J'ai rapidement compris comment monter les protections auditives, puis la visière. Ca a été beaucoup plus long pour la casquelle mais calmement j'ai fini par comprendre, il faut l'amener de face et appuyer vers le bas sur la partie centrale pour que le clips passe sous la visière ; C'est astucieux et simple... mais une petite doc en papier recyclé en anglais, chinois ou même suédois n'aurait pas été du luxe ! Je recommande cet excellent casque.
