WP33 - The Older Beginner Piano Course - Level 2 - Bastien (The Bastien Older Beginner Piano Library)

This is a good book for an older beginner , teen-adult, who has had some piano lessons in the past. It is not advanced, but it's also not for someone who has never had any kind of music lessons. It's truly a level 2 book. Some of the pieces at the very end of the book are early intermediate level, but the beginning is pretty simple. It doesn't move too fast, but does introduce many new keys and some theory. You can't go wrong with the Bastien method books. I had piano lessons at the college level and my professor taught me from this book 30 years ago. I ordered it for my granddaughters who are teens and are finishing level 1 materials.

Everything was perfect

Unfortunately the book's text and graphics are a little dated in appearance but the content is solid Bastien content.

I have been taking lessons since 2011 and I very quickly worked my way through the level 1 book so it was on to level 2 by the end of last year for me. I have enjoyed every minute of it. But this book is a really good place to start for an older beginner. At first I never thought I would ever get anywhere but I have to say I was wrong because we have taken things at my pace. With the level one book we'd go through a unit during each lesson because it was way too easy. So far for this level 2 book we've had to slow it down quite a bit because it's so challenging. The price is great as well.

Easier to learn for older beginner

I'm happy to get the book but it was wet. I set it out to dry but the pages are wrinkled. I'll put it under some heavy books to smooth it out. The pages are still readable.

I am an older beginner (76) and I can play these pieces with just a little practice. I am really enjoying the book. I had a few music lessons 40 years ago, but hadn't played since. I am very happy with this book.

I had always wanted to learn some piano and read enough music to have a basic understanding. I have started the Bastien series and it yielded results much faster than I had expected. Some of the arrangements are a little different than I'm accustomed, but there is a nice variety of songs/exercises from different musical genres. The lessons build upon each other and the pace seems right.

He probado otro método en plan autodidacta, pero este me gusta más. La forma en que se estructura el aprendizaje me parece mas fácil. Llegó en plazo, perfectamente embalado.

Ce livre facilite l’apprentissage du piano de façon progressive. Très intéressant pour les grands et les petits. Je le recommande.

I would recommend this book to a beginner as it's easy to follow, and has catchy tunes to inspire! Just wish there was a book 3 etc!!!
