A well made fan that's very quiet
Had to get Amazon to send me a replacement because the original motors Crome housing was not running true, Amazon replaced this very quickly good service as usual, once I had the new fan it was a quick and easy process to install. It is very heavy so it must be fitted firmly to the ceiling joist. You hang and wire the mount and then the main fan and light hands on this mount, this really does make wiring and hanging this fan very easy. The light is bright enough in my opinion. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed with was the light does not dim, not the end of the world. After I discovered the original fan did not spin true I tried to find a contact number for Westinghouse in the UK, I was unable to find any way of speaking to them, this was a disappointment. This fan and light does look well made and has a good warranty. I would buy another one and would recommend it to anyone. Further to this and some years later, still working really well and still looks modern. The only thing I’ve changed is I’ve managed to change the expensive halogen bulb with an equivalent LED light. A must do thing with expensive electric costs. If you are looking for a great light that still works silently after many years then look no further buy this fan, I love it

Superb fan.
I like this ceiling fan. It's in my bedroom so it's quite large for the room probably best suited in a living room but saying that it's been a god send with this very warm weather. Its very quiet on setting 1 & 2 a little bit louder on setting 3 but the draft it causes is lovely . I've been able to sleep no problem on setting 2. I haven't changed the setting on the fan so that it forces warm air down into the room I'll wait until winter time for that so can't comment, but if cool setting is anything to go by I'm sure it'll work well. Well worth the money I would definitely recommend this product. Quite heavy when trying to mount on to the ceiling but manageable, remote control works well even in the dark(middle of the night) turning it on and off the buttons are easy to identify.

Excellent effective, silent fan. Some issues fitting.
Makes a real difference on horribly hot summer nights. Had a few complications fitting the fan - but I'm so pleased with it overall that it still gets 5 stars. The fan is attractive, robust, stable (despite the weight) and is almost entirely silent on the first 2 settings. Creates a good level of air movement; I'm currently 8 month pregnant, during a heatwave - and this makes a big difference to making nights more bearable. Did have a few issues fitting the fan. I hired an electrician for this - as instructions specify this (and it's quite heavy). Electrician advised that it can't technically just replace a standard light - as installation instructions specify a 2-pole switch and most UK light switches are only one pole. Electrician had fit a second isolation switch on the ceiling (I think it'd also work if you just used a standard light switch as-is, but fan wouldn't be properly isolated in case it needed repair in future and this would void the warrantee). We had to contact the manufacturer to double-check using a separate isolation switch was an acceptable alternative to a 2-pole switch (which they did confirm) but it was hard to reach them - as they only have a German contact number. Overall, a few issues fitting - more hassle than expected, but nothing insurmountable. Once installed, fan is excellent.

quality modern ceiling fan
The last few weeks of hot weather has made owning a fan a necessity. I was willing to spend a little bit more for the right product that would last. So i read the reviews and chose the Westinghouse Bendan ceiling fan. I'm glad to say I am very pleased with the result. The installation although a little bit fiddly is easily within the capability of any confident DIY person but if in doubt it's always recommended to get an electrician. Its a very nice looking fan with its dark steel case contrasting with the wood effect blades. It fitted my decor perfectly. You should be aware though, It's quite heavy so your ceiling fittings must be very secure, but this only adds to the quality of the product and it's smooth operation. If you ensure the ceiling bracket is fitted as per instructions its possible a single individual can complete the install, but reserve a little patience for getting all the wires and remote control module tucked within the housing. As a tip try adding all but two of the blades before lifting up to the ceiling bracket and attaching the wiring plugs and sockets. This will save youself a lot of neck ach when attaching the blades later on. Using the fan has been treat. It's very quite at speeds 1 and 2 and that's all I need but you could stir up a hurricane on setting 3 if you really wanted. I'll admit its only been a short time since install but its made such a difference i had to add this review. I will update again when i have the chance to see if the claim it improves warm air circulation during the winter months is true. For now i would definitely recommend over a lot of the cheaper models I've come across. My only regret is the light option is halogen and not led in this price bracket and couldn't personally justify the extra cost for the led version of the same fan.

Wonderful and totally worthwhile buying!!!
Beautiful piece of kit. Have bought 4 by now and very happy with them. Silent barely hearing a wind sound on 3. Able to sleep with it on without any issues. I have to say that it is a rather heavy equipment so when I had to install them I ask for the electrician to help. If you will put in concrete ceiling will be better to use a stronger hook which really wasn't a problem. Follow the instructions to the letter and do not force anything during assembly. Everything should fit snug to avoid any noises. Good remote, mine has dimmable lights so great and the direction is changing to accommodate winter and summer use. I would recommend them strongly. At the end unfortunately it is true that you get what you buy for so you will pay more but in my opinion it totally worth it.

Awesome Fan,
Very pleased with the fan, it looks good & works well, very quiet. The light which can be dimmed via the remote is also brighter than i was expecting which is good. Took a couple of hours to fit, organising & tucking all of the wiring out of the way was the most difficult. There is a flimsy brown plastic plate that holds some of the wire connectors this pretty much snapped of straight away, (maybe i'm heavy handed) but it was easy to resecure with the exsisting little screws and is not detrimental in any way to the fitting or operation of the fan. The instructions are not brilliant but they are adaquate for a novice DIY'er and fitting & assembly is achievable if you have had some DIY & basic electrical experience. Wire in the live, neutral & earth the rest is all block connectors. If it doesn't work you've probably just connected the wrong blocks together. 52" is also pretty big, ideal for a large double bedroom. Overall i'm giving it 5stars based on it's looks & operation, however it is brand new & I can't comment on its longevity.

Very noisy, don't install in a bedroom!
Oh dear! Firstly, I have fitted similar ceiling fans in all but the kitchen and bathroom in our house, they help both with cooling in the summer and assisting with distribution of heat from the central heating in the winter. The one in our bedroom was starting to wear out (not bad for 18 years constant use!) So was due for replacement. The design of the Bendan is very similar to the others in the house but I cannot recommend it at all. On opening the packing, all was in good condition so I went ahead and installed the motor. I am in the habit of running the motor before fitting the blades to make sure that there are no electrical issues before proceeding. I was worried to see that it was considerably unbalanced even without blades - that rang alarm bells but I continued with installation. I did not sleep at all during the first night - even after balancing the blades the motor made a loud throbbing noise at all speeds. I returned the fan for a refund as a replacement was not available. I have now fitted a Windcalm DC which is totally silent but was unfortunately not available via Amazon. My advice would be to pay a bit more for a DC motor fan - much cheaper to run and absolutely silent.

Fits together very easily and all internal connections are by way of plugs ...
Very high quality build. Fits together very easily and all internal connections are by way of plugs and sockets, not wires and screw terminals. Designed so it supports it's own weight whilst you connect it up. This is HEAVY, which is a good thing because on max it goes like the clappers. Small issues: 1 The remote is old-fashioned looking. 2 It only has fixing screw holes and 2 weedy screws provided. I used heavy duty 4" screws instead. Make sure you are screwing into a joist or don't expect it to stay on the ceiling... 3 The cowling for the connections, ceiling mount and remote receiver is a bit small - it's a job to get everything in there. Gives off a lovely warm light from supplied halogen bulb. Very efficient air flow. On max it blows stuff around. We have it constantly on min overnight and it is practically silent. Great product worth twice its price.
