ecuphar ide708 Microchip Reader with Body Temperature Detector

There were no reviews available when I bought this item from Amazon. I do, however, have other SureFlap products that I am happy with and there seemed to be no alternative for me as I am a Mac user and many of the alternative products needed a Windows PC connection, so I took the risk. This unit fits easily in the hand and it totally intuitive to use once you realise you need to press the centre button to start a read. Without any beeps to frighten the pet being read, the reading is fast and very clear as well as the unit itself being lightweight and relatively small. This makes it particularly suitable for smaller animals whether cats or small dogs. Some of the ring type units are just so big it is difficult to position them near to the animal. It takes 2 AA batteries that are easily slotted into place. The unit also reads temperature sensing chips. I can't comment on this aspect as I do not have such a thing in any of my animals to test it on.

Inexpensive and easy to use. But rather fragile.

Great scanner, have been using it for a few weeks now and very reliable. I know that the sounds signal is intentionally omitted but would like at least some haptic feedback like a mild vibration when I am scanning big dogs and when I have to scan below the shoulders I cannot see if the scanner has detected the chip. Also I sometimes catch myself forgetting to press the scanning button and if I am not careful I would read the last scanned chip number rather than the chip I just scanned for as the last chip number appears on the screen. I wish the manufacturer would make it more obvious that the displayed number is a historical one rather than the just scanned one. Otherwise a great pocket scanner.

I read somewhere that microchips can 'disappear'. I am already both neurotic and paranoid about my Bengal (apparently cat owners are more likely to be neurotic. I blame the cat!) so I bought this to do a regular scan and hide my neurosis from the vet, who thinks I'm normal. It really is very good. So simple to use. It works bang on every time. Well made and very confidence building, as it were.

Great for the money. Does what it says. No back light if you did it in dark. Easy to use. No noise. Great size.

A good product, but I should have chosen one which alerted you that the chip was read.

It is small and handy. Reads my dog's microchip without issues instantly. It doesn't make sound when the chip is found but this is not an issue in the slightest. You can clearly see on the screen that the microchip has been read.

Very easy to use. Holds the chip number in place once located which is excellent. I'd highly recommend this product. It works very well.
