This worked perfectly for my 2012 Ford Taurus, after a little work. Ace Hardware would not cut the key for me for "liability reasons", but Home Depot was more than happy to do it. The programming trick is that the key and the fob need to be programmed separately as others have mentioned, and that's not clear in the included instructions. In fact, the included instructions only program the fob. Google the YouTube video "How to Program a Ford key and key fob with ease" by Hindsight 101 for full instructions on both procedures. Also, I saw one of the other reviewers said the key length was an issue, but even though this key is slightly longer than my Ford ones it did not cause a problem for me.

I have a 2012 Ford Mustang and my old key fob finally died and gave out on me when this fob arrived. I immediately took it to Home Depot and had the proper key set cut. After Home Depot I tested it out on the ignition and the key would turn over to the on and off lot. The key however, will not work until it is programmed. So I went onto YouTube and found the videos and I can tell you that the process of setting up the key and setting up the fob is super simple and easy.

In theory, it's great to help declutter my pockets with one less item (fob) on my key ring. Pros This works with my 2008 Ford Explorer. The instructions to program the fob and pair the chip-key with my SUV worked flawlessly. I still have both my original keys so this was easy. If you don't have both the original keys, you will have to take it somewhere to program it manually. This price is far more palatable than buying a replacement chip key from the dealership or local stores. The response time when I lock or unlock my car is faster than the original key fobs with fresh batteries. I can only guess that the electronics are very well made. Cons UPDATE 08APR26: Buttons on the fob are very susceptible to accidental presses in my pocket. This happens more than a few times during the day and usually when I sit down or stand up. Tips If you've never used a combo fob+key like this, it will take some getting used to. This key style is new to me and I kept accidentally pressing the tailgate open button when twisting it to start my car. My car also had the "key guard" thing on my ignition, but thankfully, that just popped right off. The hardest part was trying to find a local place to cut the key for me. A local hardware store (rhymes with FACE) wasn't even willing to cut the key for me and wanted me to buy a key from them for $99.99. Thankfully, the folks at my local Dep0t store did it for free. Just make sure to tell them that you only need it cut and not programmed so they will select "No" to the question of, "Is this key chipped?" on the machine. UPDATE 08APR26: So after months of accidental presses and alarms, I decided to switch back to the regular key and separate fob. I never had any issues with this. This will work fine as a spare key for me.

For my 2013 Ford Edge. Arrived quickly. Had it cut at a local hardware store and, finally, got around to "programming" today. Tried three times but NoGo! Checked and battery is fine. Key works fine but no remote so no "where's my car" or open the rear hatch from inside the house.. Sadly, return window closed while unit was sitting, waiting for me.

We took this key to the dealership to have it set up for our 14 Edge. Unfortunately the buttons do not work at all and it was still $100 to get programmed ( could I have done a locksmith match cheaper!?). Since we did this for the spare key, I am okay not having working buttons it is the backup so it will still work to lock/unlock doors manually and start the vehicle, but I would recommend paying the dealership their overpriced $300 fee for a key that works in all aspects of it is your primary.

I purchased the Simple Key Programmer Bundle which already had one spare key but I wanted another. Got them both cut at Ace Hardware for about 12 bucks total. Followed the instructions and they both worked perfectly with all of the key functions. FYI Ace Hardware tried to tell me they couldn't cut the key because of some nonsense about liability and a contract with another key company but I was very polite and insisted I would not blame them if the keys didn't work and the store manager cut them for me. Worked great!!!
