Like George, David has a tendency to speak too much, blow things out of proportion, and, most often, fail in the end (and often liking it that way). David's new show is also like its predecessor; it's about "nothing" except following the day-to-day ramblings of a sometime writer and comic (this time in LA). Eternal questions stemming from universal daily dilemmas are honed to perfect comedic absurdity. A notable exception is that the show is only scripted by plot; much of the action is improvised. The first season starts with a one-hour mockumentary following David's return to stand-up for the first time in years. The other 10 episodes follow a more traditional sit-com setup. David plays "himself" (as does his friend, Richard Lewis) although his manager and wife are played by comedians Jeff Garlin and Cheryl Hines. Although this first season is a comedic gem, one can't take more than an episode or two at a time--it's caustic, biting comedy. The episodes are often built like a house of cards, which the irritable David will surely collapse by the end. --Doug Thomas Review: Curb Your Enthusiasm is comedy gold! - Curb Your Enthusiasm is a comedic masterpiece that had me laughing out loud from start to finish. From the brilliant mind of Larry David comes a series that is as hilarious as it is relatable. Curb Your Enthusiasm follows the misadventures of a fictionalized version of Larry as he navigates the pitfalls of everyday life with his trademark blend of neuroticism and hilarity. What sets this DVD collection apart is the sheer brilliance of the writing and performances. Larry David's dry wit and unapologetic honesty are a breath of fresh air, and the supporting cast, including Cheryl Hines and Jeff Garlin, delivers laugh-out-loud performances that leave a lasting impression. Each episode is a comedic gem, filled with awkward encounters, social faux pas, and absurd situations that will have you cringing and cackling in equal measure. Whether Larry is dealing with a faulty thermostat or inadvertently offending a friend, the humour is always sharp, witty, and delightfully irreverent. In terms of quality, the DVD collection delivers on all fronts. The picture and sound are crisp and clear, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the hilarity of Larry's world. Plus, the packaging is sleek and stylish, reflecting the high-quality content within. Furthermore, I was impressed by the fast delivery time and overall great service provided by the seller. The DVD arrived promptly, allowing me to indulge in a marathon of comedy gold without delay. Curb Your Enthusiasm: Complete HBO Season 1 is a must-have for any fan of smart, irreverent comedy. Its sharp writing, stellar performances, and impeccable delivery make it a timeless classic that will have you coming back for more laughs time and time again. Trust me, you won't regret adding this gem to your collection. Review: Forever digging a hole - Basil Fawlty, Alan Partridge, Larry David - what do all 3 have in common? Loud, boorish, socially inept and prone to digging themselves into big holes. The difference with Larry is that he lives in Southern California where everyone appears to be confident, friendly and assertive. So there's no reserved, inhibited Brit for him to tussle with; he comes up against people who will eat him for breakfast. Larry the Moron, however, is married up with Larry the Respected Celebrity. He brushes up against Hollywood movers and shakers and this is rather clever in that the show can never be accused of being a celebrity zoo a la Absolutely Fabulous who seem so anxious to get a "face" into the show that they don't think about giving them funny or relevant dialogue. CYE is different. Larry is on a constant collision course and it's a glorious cringe-fest. This is a first rate show and I love the excruciating humour. I have just one complaint: I can't imagine someone as bumbling as Larry attracting such a trophy wife as Cheryl. Surely an inability to attract/keep a partner would be more inkeeping with his character? Just an observation. Nonetheless, I give it 5.

"That's a Bowl Of Trouble"
Larry David has always been a mysterious character - from his days on Seinfeld, he was usually a background guy, like the man in the cape, or the guy at the news stand. People didn't really know him, he was an obscure comic trying to make his way in life, until he met Jerry, and started writing Seinfeld. So what is this all about? Curb Your Enthusiasm is all about Larry's life as a writer after Seinfeld, married to the beautiful Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) and hangs around with Jeff Green (Jeff Garlin) and his buddy Richard Lewis. He usually has a very strange sense of humour, and this mainly shows you what problems he sees every day. Everything from misunderstandings with Ted Danson to arguments with Jeff's wife Suzie who's rather coarse at times. The best episodes has to be the one where he's trying to race Richard to a jewellery store - and they end up helping a blind man; a misunderstanding at the printers means an obituary is horribly rude and of course the final episode where Larry tells lies at a group help meeting. I really enjoyed this season, it's funny and has some smashing moments. Yes, Larry does get carried away, he takes very sensitive moments and really tries to be very clever with them, but sometimes he's just like a bulldozer - ignoring the signs to stop where he is. I can see why this doesn't appeal to everyone, some of it is rather close to the edit, but if you see the lighter side you can see Larry's not intentional and you can see the faux pas from miles away. Both Jeff and Richard are excellent in this, especially Richard with his depressive view on life, and of course Cheryl who's rather good as this woman who's trying to just get by and hopes Larry won't totally make a mockery of her. There's some funny cameos in this which makes it more fun. These DVDs are pretty good, 3 disks with all ten episodes, plus the piolot "HBO Special: Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm" which is an hour long, to showcase Larry's new show. There's also a great interview on here which made me laugh, though you do get spoilers of other seasons, so beware to watch that after the other 3 seasons. The quality is high from HBO, with a decent bitrate and sound - though the audio is low on the interviews. Well worth a look, if you're not convinced the latest series is on TV now - so check it out before you buy.

Meraviglioso dalla prima all'ultima stagione!

Zumindest trifft "Curb your Enthusiasm" nicht meinen Humor. Mit dem Humor von Seinfeld hat es nichts mehr zu tun, finde ich. Es ist völlig anders als Seinfeld. Schade, dass es von Seinfeld nicht mehr Staffeln gibt.
