Surprisingly good 'cheap' alternative to MX Master mice ...
I bought this one because I wanted a new mouse (and also keyboard) with bluetooth and multi device support, primarily for my Steamdeck but which could also be used with phone/tablet (for Samsung Dex) and my old Surface Go tablet. This mouse wasn't particularly cheap but it was reasonably affordable and had support for three different connections which can be bluetooth (or use the supplied 'unifying' dongle for a lower latency connection and which is compatible with other Logitech peripherals). I was expecting it to be quite 'middle of the road' for the price but I have been pleasantly surprised to find out that it is a very capable device and in some ways, an alternative for the very expensive MX Master mouse series. Not as premium feeling but functionally similar.Ergonomics are excellent - it fits an average sized hand nicely with all buttons falling naturally under the intended fingers (and thumb). It has a pleasing slighly rubberised and textured grip which feels much nicer than plastic. It has an adjustable scrollwheel which can either be operated in a slightly 'notchy' mode like a normal mouse but with the click of the button switch above it, can be put into a free spinning mode for moving through a webpage or text file extremely quickly. It's not quite as free spinning as my daily use MX Master 3 but it is perfectly servicable. Instead of a dedicated left-right scrollwheel on the Master, this one lets you push the main scrollwheel left or right for horizontal scrolling, which is functional but not as nice as a dedicated wheel. There are the standard L/R mouse buttons of course which fall nicely under the first and third fingers with middle finger falling on the scroll wheel, which is also clickable as a third button if desired. On the left side of the mouse are three buttons near the top, where the thumb naturally falls on the first one. First and second typically act as forward/back in a browser and the third button lets you select which device you want to use and can be held to iniate pairing. Also, near the botttom is a 'hidden' button which you can squeeze to active gesture control if you are running Logitech Options+ software (which supports this mouse). Options and Options+ software from Logitech lets you remap a lot of the keys on an app by app basis if needed. I generally just tend to use the default settings but it could be useful if you want to take the time to make customisations.Tracking is decent - I had no problems running it on normal flat surfaces. Bluetooth connection was seamless and quick and I haven't experienced any glitching like you can sometimes find on bluetooth peripherals. I haven't really used the unifying connection on this mouse as I bought it to use with bluetooth devices but I have been very pleased with the unifying dongle which I run on my main desktop PC with MX keyboard and mouse so it's a useful ability to be able to integrate this with one, if desired.I've tried it (via bluetooth) on Steamdeck, Galaxy Phone and Tablet devices and a Surface Go. It performed flawlessly on all of them and was super-simple to pair. As mentioned there is full 'Options+' support on a Windows PC and presumably also on a Mac. You'll need to use third party configuration options on other OSes if you want to start redefining buttons and the like.I can't comment from experience on battery life but having used the 'Marathon' mouse before which had excellent battery, I have no reason to doubt Logitech's claims of a long life (they say up to 24 months). The battery is a standard AA type so its easy to replace when you need to do it and of course you can use rechargable AAs such as an Eneloop battery if you don't want to use throwaway batteries. So, all in all I can recommend this highly for desktop use. It probably wouldn't be ideal for fast paced games but for day to day use it comes surprisingly close to an MX Master series mouse, for a much lower price. It's also ideal for multi-device use (which is why I bought it) - good bluetooth connection and easy to switch with a press or two of a button.
