Excellent little headphone amp!
I wasn't expecting much, so was pleasantly surprised when I got everything hooked up! It's got Volume, Gain, Tone dials and a tiny magical button with extra effects - chorus, delay and reverb - all of which work adequately for such a tiny gadget! The Aux input is also very useful, if you like jamming or following along. If I wanted to indulge in some nitpicking, it would be that the amp is painfully plasticky and there is no noise reduction (I might need to experiment with the dials some more though). Overall however, the Vox - amPlug2 AP2-MT headphone amp scores exceptionally well on all bases: It's portable, allows you to practice without intruding on your neighbours' peace and quiet, has extra FX and dials you can play with to achieve a sensible tone. More importantly, the price won't hurt your wallet!

Best buy
Lovely bit of kit and somewhat surprising the other makes didn't figure out what an effective tool this is (and copy). My only real annoyance is the fact that it's a little chunky to be hanging out of the jack socket depending on how you're sitting down etc but in all honesty, the benefits of having a nice chunky sound, the ability to mix in songs from my phone makes this an easy 5* tool. If your requirements are to have a decent metal sound cranked out solely through headphones this is something you should not overlook, ideal for traveling and of course, I daresay you could output to e.g. bluetooth speaker if required but I only need headphones for my purposes. There are different models for different tone styles too so if metal isn't your thing, get a blues one or another one. To try and compare this between something like the mini-marshall stack is not really possible as the mini-stack sounds like toot and this sounds incredible, though obviously somewhat different setup as this doesn't have a speaker.

I am not a pro guitarist.
I am not by any stretch a pro guitarist, so I possibly expected a little too much from this gadget. I try to practice guitar daily, and this is great little alternative to my 15W combo amp, for when I don't want to wake the neighbours. It has a few nice effects that can be dialed in and is not all distortion as the name might suggest. I would definitely reccomend this product to anyone that's just starting out, or maybe wants to play on the move.

Great for the price
This is amazing, especially for the price. Not exactly what you'd call robust in terms of the build (plastic), but as long as you look after it, it should be ok. For something so small and low cost, it packs a lot in - great metal tones and a range of fx, including delay and reverb. It's great to be able to play along with music from my phone as well. My biggest gripe is that you still need headphone cables trailing over your shoulder, which can easily get caught on the guitar strap, but there are probably some better solutions out there; maybe consider a bluetooth transmitter. Also wish there was a clean tone, but overall really happy. So happy I bought the AC30 one!

Practice all you want without annoying anybody else
I've been playing guitar on and off for the last 13 years. Over the past few years I've been listening to more and more heavy rock and metal music and I wanted to begin learning to play that style. However, I live in a smallish flatshare where I don't have enough room for an amp so I was looking for alternatives and more specifically, a way to practice metal without annoying my flatmates or anybody else in the building. This small but brilliant device does everything I wanted, simply plug it into your guitar than connect your usual headphones that you use to listen to music with and then you can start jamming away. The sound quality is pretty good for the price, there is gain, tone and volume control along with a few Fx (reverb, delay and chorus) and also 3 different built in sounds. Overall I would highly recommend this to anybody who wants to practice without making any noise or doesn't have enough room for an amp.

A must have for ALL guitarists, especially beginners.
This thing will change my life. I now carry my guitar almost everywhere with me. If I'm ever bored or restless, I just plug this thing in and jam out. + It is surprisingly powerful + AUX in jack!!! You can carry backing tracks/beats/songs on your Android/iPhone/iPod/Mp3 player, sort them in a playlist, maybe have exercises to practice on the go... sky's the limit. + Instead of plugging in headphones, you can plug it into speaker with sub-woofers, the power will surprise you! Or plug it into your car/friends car! + Many different sounds, sometimes needs a bit of tweaking to get that right tone, that's fine though - You can't get a clean sound from it, no matter how low you set the gain, so my next buy will probably be the classic rock one. Very little I can complain about really, this thing is awesome. My only regret is that I didn't find it sooner.

3 stara for value for money
It is really reall cheaply built. I mean really cheaply. A cheap bad plastic box with a sticker slapped on. That is the built. The jack rotates...so what? That is to be expected not a special bonus. The crap housing is compensated as per title offset sufficiently somewhat by what you pay for. The sound is half decent. For this price half decent is good value for money. Which all sums up fully my expectations and why i bought it. For 20 bucks this is ok.

Great!
Much better than the original Amplugs...clear and detailed sound and enough options to tweak your sound (there are three sounds with reverb, delay and chorus fx which also have different depth settings...read the manual!). A good practice tool for £35 and better than messing with iPhones and leads/adapters for quick practice sessions. Sound quality will depend on what headphones you use!

I've been using this since the past one year. An excellent product for your electric guitar practice and travel needs. You can connect it to any speaker with an aux input and you get brilliant tones. I use it with a JBL Flip 4 and it is absolutely brilliant especially for playing leads. There are three amp channels - the green (great for high mid leads, crunch riffing, or even an almost clean tone by getting the gain knob to zero), the orange (for rhythm guitar requirement) and the red (high gain & lead). Also there are 3 effects with 3 presets each thus giving you 9 patches. You can further combine those with amp channels to get a total of 27 adjustable patches (you can still adjust the tone and gain). You can also connect an aux input through a dedicated socket. Overall, this is a brilliant mini amp and at the current price, it's a no brainer. Especially useful for those quick practice sessions and travel

Take a look at the ratings on this device... This unit has the highest, global, ratings of any other in this category. There's a good reason for that - it sounds incredible!! Unfortunately - Vox Amplification has discontinued this product. Insane, move! Why?!! Now, look at the current price. If you're complaining about this unit - you're not using it right! (IMHO) There's quite a lot of functionality, here. 6 (six), different effects: various, delays, reverb, echo, gain (truly, *awesome*). This, little, "virtual, 'M#rshall half-stack'" - sounds better than most full-sized amps I've used. I'd like to be able to get the electronics from this unit into my, present, practice amp (Line 6 Spider30w). However, I play directly through the clean channel on that amp, and, it even makes that sound fabulous! Interestingly, enough - I discovered that you can achieve various effects through more than just the "FX" button. The manual states that the FX button is simply an effects, "ON/OFF" switch. But, you acquire an additional three, settings, holding down the "POWER ON/OFF" switch, as well (at least, in my unit (AP2-MT), and, cycling through the effects, again, using the EFFECTS switch. As far as portability and construction go, it is built on the light, side, for sure, but it's not going to fall apart from a couple of drops to the floor, either. (Yes, I've tried it!). I also use a 1/4" female-male, elbow adapter, to employ, another, axis of freedom, should, it accidentally meet with a stronger force! - like - a wall! I did, accidentally, apply too much torque to the unit while it was plugged into my guitar, by stepping on a cable plugged into the headphone socket, and the plastic cover, around, the plug, separated. I Super-glued it, and wrapped a small strip of duct tape around it to prevent that from happening again. You might also consider, wrapping a couple of rubber bands around the unit (latitudinally, and, longitudinally), to ensure, some degree of shock absorption and rebound, after a drop. The construction is quite, poor, however. I opened the unit, to apply some friction on the wheels so that they turned more smoothly, by adding a couple of layers of masking tape on the side of the casing that comes up against the front of the wheels. The plug is connected to the circuit board by two, fragile, hook-up wires, which, were the thinnest possible wires they could have used (probably, 24-26 gauge). With just a little tension on those two wires -- they disconnected from the circuit board - like - they were just, dying, to be disconnected - and just, couldn't get to that state, fast, enough! Luckily, I have some (wanting), soldering skills, so I was able to solder them back into place, covering the solder points with a thermal glue (hot glue). THE INSTRUCTIONS: YES, they ARE there; they're packed inside (in-between) the folded, cardboard packaging! TAKE THEM OUT AND READ THEM. The instructions are clear, and, obviously not a Chinese interpretation (that, in itself, is a welcomed thing!), with clearly illustrated diagrams. If I had good enough reason - I'd buy another one! Or, maybe, I would buy the 'Classic Rock' version... UPDATE: I DID buy another one! This thing sounds so good I wanted to make sure I had a backup. Now, I do. I also bought the High Gain Amplug3. In comparison, the Amplug2 Metal - blows it away. It's too bad, that unit has a nice sound, as well, just not the same spirit. Now, back to this unit. You won't believe it - until you hear it for yourself. I mean that. It's got that, something, that just swells into your gut, and chest. Again, it's the best guitar amplifier I've ever heard. I have not heard a full-size Vox amp, or, full stack, so I can't compare it to that. I will be using this unit - plugged, through, the CLEAN channel - of any other amp that I use, from now on.... It's that good. HONESTLY.

I love how it sounds! Tho, when I plugged it into my other amp to get a speaker it blew the speaker. I don’t know why or how since I had it on the lowest volume when it broke. Sad but it was my fault Ig
