It DOES warm up. It probably keeps the nose warm. What the directions fail to mention is that the instructions that come with it are in Chinese, so you have to figure it out on your own. There are 2 buttons and 7 indicator lights - after a bit of trial and error, I figured out that one button is for temperature and the other one is for the timer. However, the most important downside is that it needs to be plugged in to make it work, which means carrying a power pack around - and this is not mentioned anywhere in the description. There is a big plug on the outside which is not shown in any pictures and looks quite ugly. I have not been able to use it.
