My DMC-G7 camera is fitted with Wi-Fi and can be remotely triggered from my mobile phone or tablet, so why did I need a cable release?Answer:1- Cable is always faster and more reliable than wireless.2- Once I set the camera on the tripod and waiting for the right moment, I much rather look at the subject than stare at the tiny screen of mobile phone.3- It gives me a nice feeling of nostalgia, and takes me back to the good old days when we used to use medium and large format film cameras!Now a few words about the product; it is well made, works fine and the price is reasonable.

This is a cheap item so I reckon I got little to lose even if it is hit and miss. A couple of the reviews here were negative so I had some trepidation about ordering it. However, the overall ratings were good so I took the plunge.The connection is a sensitive in that it has to stick right into my camera to work. The button requires a couple of trial goes to get the feel right to activate it. I have not used the hold function of the button yet so can't comment on it.This is certainly a useful addition to my kit and allows me to avoid any shaking from pressing the camera release button, which I was getting for taking such things as the moon.

Bought the Maxsimafoto release for use with a Panasonic FZ1000 and works perfectly well, it even works as a stop/start in Video mode, cannot comment on the quality of this compared to the original Panasonic remote as they appear to be as rare as rocking horse manure. Quick delivery adds to the five star rating I give this product.

DO NOT BUY, absolute rubbish. Again as they say you get what you pay for and I thought this would or should be a good item however I was/am so disappointed with this item, At first it didn't work at all, I left it a couple of hours and went back to try it again, no success, then all of a sudden it started to work but very spasmodically, I thought great. So my next test was to switch the camera off, remove the release cord and then try it all again, outcome NOTHING, so I give up and it will be now cast to the waste bin, lesson learnt. Not returning as the postage would would outway the cost of the product.Back to the drawing board.....One very unhappy customer.

The control button is a little bit stiff when first used. It is really impossible to judge just how durable it is likely to be having only had it for a few days. Ask me in a years time.

This feels cheap. I also bought this to do the same job which is cheaper but feels better built:  Pixel RC-201/L1 Shutter Release Cord for Panasonic - Multi-Colour . This one went back.

Love this device, does what it says on the box.
