Riomhorry Firewood Measuring Tool is the answer. My son had made his own but needed a different one for each size requested and the magnets just weren’t that strong so it was more work than help. This tool is Adjustable. Adjust between 16'' and 26''. Magnetically attached to the Chainsaw Bar. The magnets are amazingly strong stays put. No more crawling between the logs to retrieve the tool. If you are cutting your own wood and need a specific length or the best looking woodpile this is for you. If you need a gift for a person that cuts wood this is a great gift to make their job easier.

This is a great tool to add to a chainsaw for making it easier to buck firewood to uniform lengths. I think it is a bit pricey, but it seems to work quite well. I do not know about the durability because I just got it and am just getting started using it. I have one suggestion that could make this a truly excellent tool: It should come with a bright, durable, fluorescent orange finish so that it is really easy to find, even when partially buried in the bunch of brush and tangled limbs that are often inevitable when cutting firewood. I sprayed mine, but the paint I used is not as bright and won't be a durable as a factory finish. That simple upgrade to the product would make it superior to the competing products.

This sure is a helpful nifty gadget. The magnet is strong and doesn't slip off. I only used it at the shortest length so I do not know how it will stand up to it being stretched out longer but I do know it was sure nice to use. No measuring and marking. Just stick it on and start marking the log to be cut zip zap and I was to cutting in no time. Remember don't leave it on while you are cutting the log I am pretty sure you bust it in the first cut of the log. The only thing that I changed is I bought some yellow spray paint and painted it so I would not loose it after I laid it down.

First issue was the screw holding the disc on - but I had read reviews and so added a lock washer to it before I used it. Cool, I thought. I shouldn't have any problems. Then, while limbing a tree and holding the tool in my hand, the screw holding the magnet worked its way out! I didn't notice until I was done limbing but, fortunately, I was able to find the magnet and the screw. So, I Loctite it before my next use. Then, the magnet *breaks* in half - effectively making it useless. I'm going to order some replacement magnets and hope they hold up better. But basically, this is what you get for purchasing a knock-off. :\

I had another brand where the magnet kept coming off and I finally lost it. This magnet is attached so it will not come off.

Waste of money when the magnet breaks after using it a 2nd day. To begin with, screws kept falling out. Then I added thread locker and that worked. Kept falling off bar by vibration or branches. Then I almost lost it because it's BLACK! They at least could have made it high vis orange or pink! I went back to my 3/8 rigid PVC cut to length (in my case 20") and used it as a measuring tool before cutting my logs. This seems to be the most inexpensive and reasonably accurate way to cut to length.

It’s simple easy to use for making sure you get the right cuts. I use it every time I’m cutting rounds. Beats eyeballing it or tape measuring it.

Thus thing is awesome. Perfect size everytime. Just make sure to put locktight on the disc magnet. Also, only use the tool for scoring the cut. No need to make full cuts with it on. Just score the log all the way down and remove the tool then make your cuts.
