Simple, robust and straightforward
A very simple design which should ( in theory) be foolproof. If the black sensor is immersed in water, the alarm sounds. The sensor contains two metal prongs. The presence of water completes the circuit between the prongs, sounding the alarm. Bit of a squeeze getting the battery ( not supplied) into the compartment. No need to worry about not hearing this alarm- it's loud enough to wake the dead. Because in "stand by" mode the power consumption is zero, the battery should last for an extremely long time, i.e., long as its' "shelf life" will allow. This item could, incidentally, easily be adapted to a variety of DIY uses. The water sensor could be removed by any competent person and replaced with a microswitch, mercury "tilt sensor" or any passive device of this nature. Note- I did NOT receive this item free nor was I rewarded for giving a good review. This review is my own opinion, I do not need "incentivised" to give reviews.

Absolutely fantastic but if kit.
I bought this not expecting anything amazing, but my god.... Once you insert the battery and give it, its 1st run its well loud.... I don't use it to check a filled bath, I use it at work on our machines as about once every 2 weeks or so we need to top up out water based coolant and the tanks are huge.. And take hours to fill sometimes we leave the pipe In and even go home, then the next shift comes in the the factory flooded!!! (See photo) This was just tested the other day when the labourer set the mixer away filling the machine then went out delivered things in the van... I sued this alarm.on the machine and it alerted 3 or 4 guy in the factory that there was a flood imminent and we were all like 50meters plus away... This items I worth it's wait in gold, coz I'll not have to be mopping 1/2 a factory up with gaffa daring at me through his office window any more 😂

Really works!
I have bought water overflow devices before. Although they worked, the 'beep' produced was not very loud and was high-pitched; bot of these made it difficult for someone of my age to hear. In contrast, this alarm is really loud and has a warbling tone: something extra to catch one's attention. You are not going to ignore this if water hits the floor! Although the device itself is small, it appears to be well made: hard plastic, snap-fitting, and screws to hold the device together.

Just wish it had a switch to turn it OFF
This would have been an ideal water leak alarm. It's sensitive, loud and reasonably priced. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a switch. Trying to remove the battery to shut the thing up before my ears started to bleed wasn't my idea of fun. A switch to turn it off would have been a most welcome addition.

Very loud!!
Pros - Very loud - this would even wake my wife up! Have got this in the basement to warn if the sump pump fails. Long lead to sensor. Comes with adhesive pad for fitting. Cons - No audible warning of low battery, no LED to show it's working. Battery not supplied. A bit on the expensive side.

Ideal for fish tanks and baths
I got this for my 6ft coldwater fish tank as I was fed up with the water coming over the top with doing other jobs in the house while waiting for the tank to fill up & forgetting about the hosepipe when I was filling it up after either a partial water change or a big clean out. Water caused the doors underneath the tank on the cabinet to warp & the cheap wooden flooring soaked it up causing the floor to rise slightly in some places, so this alarm has put a huge big stop to all this. This is an absolute must for ANY fish tanks. Handy for baths if you have a bathroom upstairs, I'm lucky as mine is downstairs. I'm deaf, have a 60% hearing loss in both ears & I can hear this going off from upstairs so it is loud & it needs to be loud to alert you to the fact that water is escaping & wants to cause havoc to your property. Highly recommended if you live in private rented properties like myself or for house/contents insurance etc, or if you accidentally dozed off while the bath was filling up. Be aware that it is loud so the person it is intended for, needs to be told of this if they are nervous/sensitive. At this price, there's no excuse for not buying two & keeping one as a spare. Don't say I didn't warn you about Mr Water & his mishaps.
