OXO Good Grips Good Gravy 4-Cup Fat Separator

We purchased this item specifically for Thanksgiving dinner to address the gravy issue with the drippings. In fact, we ordered it the day before and Amazon delivered overnight, which saved the day. The OXO can handle up to 4 cups, which is more than adequate in most instances, and has a perforated tray that catches the odd bits and pieces that you don't want in the liquid. The plastic container is food safe, high quality and won't break or crack should you accidentally drop it. Once the liquid is in the container, you wait a few minutes for the liquid to separate, squeeze the handle to release the gravy drippings, and it drains through a small rubber opening in the bottom. Release the squeeze handle when you get to the desired level, and all you are left with is the residual oil/fat in the OXO container to be disposed of. A clean, efficient, no mess approach that is levels better than the syphon tubes, basing tubes or other fat separators at much higher cost. The OXO is also dishwasher safe, but we prefer to hand wash to make sure all of the parts get cleaned thoroughly. It reassembles in three parts and stores upright in your cabinet or drawer. I would highly recommend this product, and couldn't really find anything negative to point out.

This is a great product. I wouldn't get another brand, even if free, because the last thing any of us needs is a bunch of sticky, greasy meat juices all over our fridge & foods in the fridge, right? We need something that works and is reliable, and this Oxo fat separator is that product. I use mine to get all the scrapings and juices when cooking sous vide style. Cooking in that way, there are yummy bits and stuff that I don't want to filter out. But every bit of fat renders from my meats. This separator is excellent for that. I let the juices cool off in the fridge in the separator, then remove all that mow solidified fat off the top of the separator. You might want to filter the bits from the juices, so you would use that filter topper that comes with the separator. But what I find impressive is that I keep all those big and small bits in the juices, and this separator still stays sealed in the bottom spout! Usually, like with my previous separator, those bits would clog the spout on the bottom, resulting in a nightmare in my fridge or all over my counters and floor. I wash this Oxo item on the top shelf of my dishwasher. Because of it having a nice base on the bottom, and because it seals so well, when you dishwasher it upside down you'll end up with some soapy water collected on the underside, same as if you washed a glass right side up (which you'd never do, lol). That's not an issue at all! Just rinse the underside out at your sink and let dry upright. Easy peasy! I highly recommend this oxo fat separator with no reservations. It is a perfect item and essential for any sort of cooking. Don't eat all that excess fat, just let this item do it's job for you! :) And if you make gravy from pan juices, this will be your new BFF!!! Really not exaggerating. Try it and you'll see what I mean!

I like the 4-cup capacity of this fat separator. I originally thought I wanted something larger, but after using it, I realized a bigger size would likely be too heavy, especially since you need to hold it steadily and press the release handle while pouring. This size feels manageable. The separator is lightweight and made of thin plastic, which makes it easy to handle but also gives it a slightly flimsy feel. I do worry it could crack or break over time, though I haven’t had any issues yet. That said, I do trust the material quality since it’s OXO, and it’s reassuring that it’s made from heat-resistant, BPA-free materials designed to handle hot drippings and broths. Cleaning was easier than I expected, but still not effortless. I find it difficult to clean the bottom area where the thin plastic connects to the handle. Cleaning the red silicone valve is also a bit tricky. It feels like you really need to open the valve and flush out the passage and hole thoroughly to keep it clean. The strainer works well, but it simply sits on top of the container. If you try to pour from the jar like a regular pitcher, the strainer can fall off. It would be nice if the strainer fit more securely so the container could double as a pitcher, which would also save cabinet space. Functionally, the device does separate fat effectively, especially if you want to remove oil immediately while cooking. That said, for the cleanest fat removal with no liquid loss, refrigerating the liquid overnight and lifting off the solid fat layer is still the best method. With this device, you need to stop draining before reaching the fat layer, which means you may discard a small amount of liquid along with the fat. Still, when you want to skim fat right away, this separator is a very useful tool.

This is the ONLY fat separator you will ever need. Made by OXO - enough said!! Well worth it and yes I would highly recommend this product to anyone serious about the highest quality and durable useful kitchen tools.

Easy to us and clean. Probable the best design out there.

So this newer version of the Oxo fat separator actually works! The older version with the lever arm inside the cup was tossed into the garbage, as it did not reliably perform. This design actually functions well. I was worried about it sealing so I first ran it through the dishwasher, then used it with hot drippings. Then through the dishwasher again. It still seals well and lets the au jus run quickly when opened. Don't bother with the other Oxo version even if it is cheaper because you'll either return it or toss it.

Perfect size and easy to use. It definitely separates the oil/grease from the broth. It doesn’t take up much space and it it good quality.

It works like a charm - it is a huge improvement to fat separators with a spout.

Aún no la he usado, pero el producto es de excelente calidad, OXO nunca decepciona. Compré este producto porque lo vi en un video de YouTube donde la persona usaba este separador en particular, entonces decidí buscarlo aquí y lo compré. Nunca puedes tener demasiados productos de cocina, en especial si son útiles, de buena calidad que te van a facilitar el trabajo.

The design of the separator is clever, with a spout that allows you to pour off the gravy while leaving the fat behind. The handle is comfortable to hold and easy to pour. Clean up is easy, just pop it in the dishwasher. We have used it several times and it works really well. It makes separating the fat from the gravy so much easier and faster. It is made of clear plastic, so you can see the level of fat in the separator. I expect this will last us a very long time. Recommended.

Super Teil...trennt wirklich gut bei Soße und diverse andere Sachen! Man kann ihn gut im Geschirrspüler reinigen muss halt händisch nochmals den Abtrenngummi nach reinigen!!
