Well worth it 👌
Great kit, easy to use, definitely helps if brick laying isn’t your strong point, an absolute thumbs up from me

Worked for me really well
Mate laughed at me when I bought it. And a builder ask who built the wall, was shock when I said it was me and am not a brickie.

BRICKY wall building template
Bought this to help build the pigmy walls for a second hand 3.5 x 4.5 meter conservatory,I'd say as a novice bricklayer it aids you initial confidence no end, and worth buying just for that, but it won't help you with laying the first course of brick onto the foundations. You could lay a batten to guide the tool, and remove the metal guide lugs underneath for this, and would guide the damp course at the same time.It wiukd get 5 stars but i found the adjustable frame very hard to get apart, without risk of severe injury, so wear some rubber gardening type gloves to reduce abrasions to your hands, i had to pry my frame apart using levers while releasing the catches that keep it together, really due poor finishing of what is otherwise a well made useful tool. The metal guides are very sharpe so be aware, tricky to get over so started onto the bricks, especially when making a cavity wall. needs a bit more ingenuity in design to to make this task much easier.Once up and away you will be laying mortar at a heck if a rate, as you slide the tool leave a few inches of the already laid mortar showing in the tools trench, otherwise you get ridges. The video don't show you checking your bricks for true laterally (across), a small but accurate level or just a bubble is very useful ti check with.Be careful not to trail your fingers behind in the wet mortar, the tool really could use a post handle at either end to give better control when sliding it, bit like a shoe plane if you like.I found the end mortar guides a bit useless, tricky to clip onto the end if the brick, even trickier ti keep it in place, a pro retired brick layer neighbour showed me how to place end mortar on bricks, much easier with less mortar used. basically simply hold the brick end for mortar up. wipe the trough loaded with mortar down one short side, twist then the other short side giving two pyramids, with trough about roughly 120 degree's.I found after a while you find yourself getting the mortar mix consistency right then i found i was starting work without it.

Brilliant tool
Brilliant tool, of all the specialist tools i have bought over my life this one is the best , it makes brick laying so easy. I am an amateur bricky and have built plenty without the bricky tool but this just makes life so much easier with exactly the right amount of mortar on the bed every time . the finished job is no better than i have done before but it is so so much quicker than guessing by eye then tapping every brick down until the correct bed is achieved .Watch the online video on utube etc and you can see for yourself .The tool for gauging the mortar to the perps again is so easy to use and so you have all equal joints. The gauging trowel it comes with is of very good quality as well .If I was going to moan about anything, its a pig to take apart to change from 4 inch to 9 inch etc. I use mine so much now i have bought 2 and leave one set at 4 and the other at 9 inch.

Great invention but could use some tweaks
This is great when you can use it, i.e on a long course. But for infilling a doorway it's not particularly useful as there's too much bulk either sideIf you get yourself some 12mm plywood, and a jigsaw, you can make something just as effective.

It does the job
We are building a retaining wall around our pond using dense blocks. Prior to receiving this it was very hit and miss getting the right amount of mortar under each block and the blocks are really heavy! The amount of time and mortar it saves is great but you do need to get the right consistency for the mortar mix. My husband scoffed when I told him I’d bought this but he is now very pleased. As one reviewer stated it’s no good for your first course of bricks/blocks but after that it’s great. It’s very easy to use and easy to clean.I know you can buy it cheaper from alternative sources but Amazon’s next day delivery worked out for us better.
