Excellent value.
I bought this colander to replace my old one which had finally got a bit rusty after 10 years. This one is just as sturdy and comfortable to use. The size is as described, it drains well and the handles stay cool. It's nice and shiny too.

This is much better as a water drainer than it is an army hat
I'm guessing that you all know what a colander is, although there may well be people out there who've only seen them used as army hats in children's plays and "classic" BBC comedies. I wouldn't want those folks thinking that was their real use, because it's not, and I wouldn't recommend that you use them for that purpose if you can help it. Not only do they offer precious little protection for the head, their silver colour makes the wearer stand out a mile - not what you want in the middle of a battlefield, I'd imagine. So, getting back to what a colander should be used for, this is a steel bowl, with dozens of holes drilled into it, and with two handles riveted to the sides and a flat steel base. I could say that it's plainly not the Ferrari of the colander world, either in looks or in feel, but that would be doing it a disservice, because it's perfectly suited for the task of draining water from food. The steel it's made from isn't as thin as some might suggest, the handles are each riveted at two points on the bowl and the base is welded to the bottom - all told, it appears firm and solid but, as with any item constantly exposed to water, time will tell. I don't regret buying this over a plastic, or even a more expensive, colander, but I'm under no illusion that there's only so much kitchen accoutrement you can get for a fiver. Still, after six months it's still looking and performing well so even that's arguably more than I was expecting from it.

Good size. Strong handle

Adequate
Lightweight, not brilliant but adequate. Unfortunately the bottom is convex which means that liquid doesn't drain easily. Evidently not designed by someone who cooks!

Flimsy

Superb product, very happy.
Superb quality. Bought to replace one that had done a good job for years, but the handle came off and it was not possible to fix without soldering. So this was bought and is even better than the original - feels extremely sturdy and the base is very handy for standing it on the kitchen draining board when I want to put it down. Would definitely recommend.
