It's a long story, but we have some firewood that is pretty moist and some that is not. I have been playing a guessing game every time I start a fire trying to figure out which wood is dry and which isn't. Sometimes it feels and looks dry and it's not. This is my first year with a wood stove so there is also a bit of a learning curve as I figure everything out. I got this moisture meter so that I can select nice dry pieces and stack the wetter wood on another rack that has a fan blowing on it. I've only had it for a day but the first thing I did when I got it was sort through the wood I have and get the moist stuff into another rack to dry. It works like a charm! The reading is pretty much instant and as far as I can tell, as I bask in the warmth of my roaring fire, it's accurate. My brother bought a different meter here on amazon that I've used but I think this one is much higher quality and was a few bucks cheaper. The pins on this one seem much sturdier than on my brother's and it also comes with a set of replacement pins and a tool to change them out which is awesome! It also came with Duracell batteries which is almost unheard of these days. Kudos toptes! It's super easy to use, just stick the pins into the wood and you have a reading. I like the different colors so I dont even have to actually look at and process the reading, if it's green we are good and if it's red it's over to the drying rack. Saves me time when I've got a lot of wood to deal with. As a bonus it's just the right size to stick in my pocket so I can take it out to the outdoor wood rack and pick the driest pieces to bring in. I am so happy I bought this! It's going to save me a lot of time, guessing, and frustration!

It worked good right out of the box. Tests a number of different materials. I will use this when I buy expensive wood for building furniture. Changing modes for different woods is the simple push of a button. Come with 2 extra pins, an a wrench to change them. I can't say how long this unit will last since I haven't had it long. It appears to be of a high quality, and I would recommend it. It is reasonably priced. It's bright and easy to read, and came with 3 Duracell AAA batteries. .

Seems to work well. Easy to use. The different lighted background makes it real quick to see what wood is great to burn. I just received this but so far so good. I’ve only used it a few times on firewood.

Seems to work well. It’s useful. I have firewood that I thought was too unseasoned to burn, but the moisture content is low enough for use. At only $35, it’s wort it.

For the price this is an excellent little meter. I have used it to track down the source of a very damp smell in one of our rooms. I would say (and they advise this) to take a series of readings around the area you are interested in - this meter is most useful as a sort of ''compare the damp levels in this specific area to an area nearby'' sort of a tool. I bought a second non-pin damp meter (same sort of price - cheap) so I can always use both types of meters and make sure I am not getting spurious readings (for example, the presence of iron salts from old nails can make pin type moisture meters give falsely high damp readings, and the presence of metal pipes nearby can make non pin moisture meters do the same).

We bought it to check firewood. All the wood we use in my area is B on the meter, so everything is a snap! We bought wood this year, so things are on the high end of acceptable humidity. This works great to get wood within the range our blaze king recommends separate from the stuff that needs more drying. It is pretty accurate too. We checked it against 3 other units. It does other materials also, but we just use it for the wood. The colors of the background are helpful if you are grabbing wood at night. It is a quick go-no go Guage.

Pequeño pero fiable , lo compré para ver l humedad de las paredes de mi casa. Tiene opciones para según el material que quieres medir . Yo estoy contenta … con la humedad de mis paredes y la dichosa condensación no jaja, pero de eso no tiene la culpa el aparato 😅
