My tail gate was bent/tweaked from a 35/12.50. It actually started to crack the metal. I drilled the end of the cracks and welded up and used this kit to reinforce the gate. The install wasn't terribly hard. If you want to keep the tire carrier it requires some fandangaling. I drilled out the two holes up top. I punched all the way through and run 5" 3/8 all tread through a plate in the back (table mount). I used factory size all tread on the bottom (5/16) Tightend everything and loped off the access all tread. Tailgate shuts tight. No rattle. Best part tis the hinge pins are easy to replace once they get loose.

Fits perfect! Definitely strengthen the tailgate! I don’t have my spare mounted to the tailgate but I do have a heavy toolbox mounted from the inside. No sag or flex on the tailgate. Opens and closes very good

It is heavy duty but the design is horribly flawed. The hinge ends that mount to the tub are not in line with the ends that mount on the tailgate so the hinge side of the tailgate is crammed into the weatherstripping twice as much as the latch side. It doesn’t cover up the unpainted areas from the original tailgate and the tire carrier that they sell doesn’t fit without a lot of modifications.

My 33/12.50 R15 tire was bending my tail gate on my '02 TJ and this took all the weight off. And my old hinges were stiff and this one opens and closes easy.

Heavy duty but tailgate drops a lot when opening. Likely added 10 lbs to tailgate, not sure it really stiffens tailgate.

I'm sure it is easy to install, strudy, etc, BUT by the time I got someone to put it on, they couldn't because the screws to the jeep were practically welded in and couldn/t remove them. THEN it was too late to regturn them, SO, I have wonderful paper weights for sale. LOL
