Well crafted quality assortment
We like the true (not rounded) edges of these blocks. Very uniform. Pairs with Guidecraft Jr. Rainbow Blocks 20 Piece Set--squares and rectangles are the same size. We also have top of line Caroline Pratt unit blocks and these are less intimidating for our 3 year old. Also the noise of accidental tip overs and intentional knock downs on our wood floors do not hit the potentially hearing damaging range with these. The assortment of shapes provides loads of options for creative expression. Adults get sicked into block play since we started our unit block collection with these.

Great old-fashioned toy for sparking the imagination. (Updated)
I bought this as an American made, long lasting, imagination igniting, multiple age playing, no batteries required toy for my kids (ages 6, 3, and 1). And they were worth it. The kids love the simplicity of them and they try over and over to make taller and taller towers. Then the 1 year old delights in knocking them over. These are made from beautiful maple wood and sanded smooth. No need to worry about any Chinese chemicals or lead on these blocks. These well-made blocks will definitely be handed down through the years.A word of caution; these are solid wood blocks and can cause some damage if thrown or dropped on toes.UPDATE:Well, it has been almost a year and here's an update. This toy still still comes out at least once a week which is a lot more often than any of the electronic toys, that aren't already broken, from last Christmas come out.My 7 year old girl like to build "castles". My 3 year old boy uses them to build forts for his green Army men and for building "towers". My 2 year old girl takes delight in destroying whatever the other kids build.

Classic blocks lasting fun
We purchased these blocks for our sons this past Christmas. They boys (ages 3 and 4 at the time) spent the majority of Christmas day building block towers and towns for their Matchbox cars. They've continued to use them regularly, at least 1-2 times per week, over the past seven months. These blocks are sturdy and well-made, crafted in the US (which was very important to us in selecting quality blocks). We haven't had any splits or cracks, and each block is finely sanded so there are no rough edges at all.The quality of these blocks makes it well worth the price.UPDATE:We've had these blocks for over four years and they are still holding up to regular use. The boys (now 10 and eight) and their sister (six) still use these for building. No cracks, splits or rough spots, these are easily one of the best toy investments we made.

Best blocks ever
These are the blocks to buy! They are expensive, but you really get what you pay for. They are made the way the ones I had 65 years ago. They are smooth sanded and do not splinter. They will last through your great-grandchildren.

Expensive but worth it.
My two year old boy plays with 'em daily, first thing in the morning. A great learning toy. Every family should have a set. You could make 'em yourself cheaper if you had the time & the tools.
