How wide is the brim?

3 inches wide on the front and back brims; 2 inches wide on the side brims. I'm fair skinned and sunburn easily- the hat is a great size to block those damaging rays

Hemp version TH5 more robust/ rugged than the T5 ?

The TH5 Hemp Hat and the T5 Cotton Duck Hat are both durable, naturally breathable hats beloved by Tilley fans everywhere! They are very similar in shape and style but have different fabrications. The TH5 Hemp Hat is made with 100% hemp, which is a remarkably durable material. The material will soften with wear and develop its own unique character as you enjoy adventures together. This hat weighs in at 150 g/5 oz. The T5 Cotton Duck Hat is made with 100% cotton duck fabric. This fabric has been traditionally used to make boat sail as its thick weave is incredibly resistant to wear and tear. This hat is slightly less heavy than the TH5, weighing at 130 g/4.6 oz.

Why is there no 7 3/4 size hat?

The Tilley hat is designed unlike many other hats in that it fits loosely, not snugly. While a size 8 might feel a bit too big at first, over time it should feel comfortable. Conversely, a size 7 1/2 might feel OK at first, but eventually it would feel too small. In my case I have a Tilley hat which is size 7 1/2. I've worn it for years. popped it into the washing machine when it gets soiled, and find it to be a nice companion while traveling.

Will Tilley hats shrink?

No they don't - they are incredible hats, mine has been all over NZ - in all sorts of terrain and weather and is a good as new - 100 percent great hats.
