The Kit Cat Clock has been an American classic for decades. It's funny, cute and maybe too tacky for some folks but a lot of people (like me) love it. I read a lot of other customers' reviews before buying this and I recommend that you read some of the high rated reviews if you are planning to buy it so you know the "tricks" to getting it to work. It is somewhat fragile and it takes care to open it without damaging it, removing the foam insert, installing the batteries and putting the back part on again. You need to get the top of the back (up by the ears) in first and gently snap the panel in. It is also a good idea to use a screw rather than a nail to mount it since the screw should be more stable and you can adjust the small distance between the clock back and the wall as necessary to keep the tail assembly moving. You will also need to adjust the vertical angle a bit to keep the tail motion going. But I was very pleasantly surprised to see that, with careful preparation and installation, the krazy thing really works. The wagging tail assembly isn't even powered by a motor but just uses magnetic repulsion to keep the tail pendulum moving but it has continued to work for months now without any adjustment. It also keeps good time - just remember to only move the minute hand to set the time or you will probably break it. It really looks like a smaller version of the old AC electric Kit Cat Clock that I remember my aunt and uncle had in their house decades ago and the box says it's made in the USA. Good stuff!

This is exactly the same vintage style clock from the original company that I was expecting. it is not a knockoff, but the real thing. I am adding a touch of midcentury kitch to my kitchen and I feel very lucky that this company is still in business and still making clocks in America. I got the tuxedo style because I like the legibility of the clock face and the snazzy silver tie. the clock comes boxed with a lot of care and pride, but no C batteries, so I will need to hunt those down. it is made out of plastic but the motor seems sturdy and they have reasonable manufacturer's warranty in the box. so I feel confident in my ability to troubleshoot. The sound of the mechanism is noticeable, and because of the multiple moving parts these clocks have more tick than a normal clock, but I own mechanical clocks for the noise because I find it comforting. Nonetheless, I recommend this clock for the kitchen, living room, or a workshop, and not a room where you need to sleep.

Love this clock. It’s a cute addition to my kitchen. Had some issues getting the animation to work and reached out the manufacturer, who were extremely helpful in troubleshooting. If you have the same problem try loosening the tiny philips head screw on the pendulum by a half turn. It’s tightened for shipping and can prevent the tail from moving. Once fixed, it began working beautifully and I’ve gotten several compliments from guests.

I purchased this Kit-Cat Clock in December 2022, and unfortunately, I am very disappointed with its durability. Just last week, the quartz movement completely stopped working. The main issue is that the clock mechanism is fully integrated into the cat’s body, which means it cannot be repaired or replaced. Considering the high price of this product, I expected a much longer lifespan. A decorative clock at this cost should last for many years, not just a short period of time. Sadly, this feels like poor value for money.

I have this cat and it's smaller than the original, but i knew that going in. It keeps time fine, but man is it hard to keep the thing exactly level. it has to be level for the tail and eyes to function. and it has to be pulled forward just a tad. sometimes it will just stop moving and i go and gently push the tail, then it will work for another month or so before stopping randomly. when the batteries do wear out, it's kinda a pain to replace them. the back of the cat clock is tricky to get on and off and feels cheap. the whole thing feels cheap, but looks nice on the wall. i didn't purchase it to be touching it, so i'm okay with the way it feels. it's super light too, so that's probably why i feel that way.

I’m 68 and have owned an original Kit Cat clock that was electric and not battery operated. It finally died several years ago. I bought a replacement but I had to tape the batteries into their spot, and even that didn’t last. I tried and tried to get that clock to operate correctly, however, it only kept time for short periods of time and the eyes and tail never worked. A couple of years after that, my husband bought me a smaller clock and it ran off of 1 AA battery. It worked fine until, when we replaced the battery, nothing. So I decided to look here on Amazon, and found one that looked larger than the one I was replacing…. This one seems to keep excellent time and the tail and eyes work well. I think with this larger clock, using 2 C batteries has a better chance of lasting longer and working better. I do miss my old Kit Cat clock that my parents put in my room back in 1957. At least with the battery operated clocks, I can hang it anywhere…anywhere that my real cat can’t bat at the tail and stop it. It’s in its 3rd place now.

Around the turn of this century we found one of these in the wild. Had it for a while but it broke down. It was the kind that plugged into the mains. We'd missed having one and when we got our new place we had to have one. It's so nice to have his l'l tail (and eyes) wagging again. Adds just the right touch of mirth and whimsy. Handy tip: this is supposed to take 'C' batteries but can take 'AA's just fine if you only have them laying about. We got the classic black 'he-cat' - the company makes a she-cat and cats in a few other colours including an orange tiger cat. There's also a smaller Kit Cat Klock. There's even a digital version. A bit flimsy to be honest but I have no regrets buying it and it still (after a year and 2 movings) hangs up on my wall and works as it should
