Does the cover stay closed? It doesn't look like it has a latch of any kind.

It has no latch, but it has stayed closed foe me. The front is divided into three folds. So you can flip back just the first section to check the battery status. The cover is slim and sleek and lightweight. My personal preference would be a more velvety finish so that I could hold onto it better.

Can you connect an apple key board with this case?

If you mean the Apple magic keyboard folio for the iPad 10th generation, then this case is not compatible with it.
