I have a bright 4 year old grandchild and we were so excited to do the magic together. The problem is, you have to watch a video of how to do the magic tricks and she found this hard to understand. I had to watch, practice and then try to do it with her but, even with the easy ones, she lacks some of the dexterity to do the tricks as her little hands are small.I think a 6 year old would find this quite good. The tricks are easy but you need to be able to understand what the other person is seeing and this skill may only appear in the third or fourth year of life at the earliest. Will he grow into this set? Yes!How many tricks can he perform (successfully) on his own from this set?* The Drawer Box (this is the easiest operation of a drawer box I have ever seen- and the only one that he can operate with his little fingers- so that made me very happy)* The Puzzle (which is simple and cute)* The Boomerangs (which is simple and classic)* The Sliding Picture (which is flimsy, not great)* Vanishing Crayons (which is cute, and combines great with the Drawer Box where you can make the crayons reappear)and he almost has the Ball and Vase down (another classic).The lollipop, block through wand, and color cube are a little too advanced-- but he loves to watch me perform them-- and he loves to try!
