Failed after just a few weeks
Update -- although the initial set up for this sensor was simple and it worked well, this sensor only worked for a few weeks. There are two major issues: 1) Sensor loses the bluetooth connection to AppleTV (very close to the sensor) and I've not been able to restore the connection. I tried removing the sensor and re-adding it. I also tried removing the battery and forcing a reset. Nothing worked to reconnect this to Apple HomeKit. The AppleTV is only about 2.5 feet from where this sensor is mounted. 2) The temperature does not update consistently through HomeKit even when connected. When I initially installed this including the initial successful connection to HomeKit, it was clear that the temperature was often wrong and significantly lagging on HomeKit. For example, the physical display on the sensor would display 70 degrees, but in Apple Home the temp would still be showing 77 degrees. A temp that the room had not been for hours. 3) Now the temperature displayed on the physical screen of the sensor does not even update. Using another sensor, the room is 72 degrees right now but the sensor physical display shows 82 degrees. This is a nice looking sensor. Unfortunately, it is highly unreliable and -- at least in my case -- eventually becomes completely useless.

Impressed. Clever design and flexible.
I don't leave reviews often, but I'm super pleased with this thing so far. I bought this to monitor humidity for my houseplants. I have the thread/hk version and it was painless to configure. The historical data in the vendor's app is also a nice to have since humidity fluctuates a bunch over a 24h period. I love e-ink displays. This thing looks great, very cool puck style case. You can mount it on the wall but it's only connected to that mount with a little magnet. This is great because you can move it around if you want to take readings in different parts of your house (it has a little built in kickstand for this use case). Great, well thought out design. Only question is longevity, but if it continues to work like it's starting out for me, I'll be a very happy camper.

Not good
I bought this to put in my shed to trigger a HomeKit switch when the temperature dropped below freezing. Unfortunately, the thread/bluetooth connection doesn’t seem to reach as far as the WiFi, so I had to place it closer to the house. (The WiFi is strong out at the shed, and the HomeKit switch has a strong connection, but this thermometer won’t connect out there). The thread connection is “sleepy” in the place I have it located, whatever that means. It also doesn’t go below 32 degrees for some strange reason. I don’t really want the switch to kick on right at 32, since it won’t freeze out there unless it stays below 32 for a while. But weirdly, that’s the bottom limit on the thermometer. I bought it about a month ago and the battery is already down to 25%. So, it’s ok. It works, but has significant limits to its function and usefulness. EDIT TO ADD: the temp dropped to 25 last night. The unit readout said 32. I brought the thermometer inside to test if the automation was working to turn off the switch above 32. But the thermometer seems frozen at 32. The readout will reset to the indoor temp if I take the battery out. But it won’t climb back up from below freezing on its own. EDIT: battery is an odd size, unavailable locally. At this point it’s useless. I’m tossing it in a bin in the garage.

DO NOT BUY; fails after a few months
[UPDATE: 12/29/23, This device has completely failed. The LCD is stuck at 32.6 degrees. I had this in my garage. replaced battery and tried to reset and screen still "frozen" at same temp. Going to toss in garbage. Buying this product is like throwing away money $$] So I bought this for two reasons: 1) HomeKit support and 2) the e-ink. HomeKit is easy to setup and the e-ink is super easy to read. My only disappointment is that they only go to 32f degrees (0c). This is because my planned use for this device was in my garage and during the winter my garage get down to 18/19f degrees on those few super-cold evenings. I hope to see that they update the temp sensor with something that could go closer to some negative numbers to better support other places this could be used. A weather-proof version would be pretty cool too and I'd buy it.

Connects easy, Does Not Stay
Beautiful design with an e-ink display. Connecting to Homekit was somewhat easy as I had to reset the device, then connect. And that connection may last a day or two. Then repeat the process. I reset the device, connected, then was able to apply the firmware which supposedly improved connection reliability. Then reset and restarted the process with hope. Did not improve. Still having to reset the device and reconnect. Now it just displays what it displays. Done trying. For now.

Works ok, but batteries die a little faster than I would like.
I have two. Side by side they read 1 degree different. For the price thats acceptable. The batteries don't last as long as I would like, I have to change them every season. Looking back I wish I bought a sensor with a plug-in or aaa batteries so I could buy rechargeable. All and all they work for the price. I wish purchased one with different power option, installing new batteries al the time is annoying.

Junk: will stop working in a few months
Initially I thought this was a good deal, but all my units stopped working before 6 months. Do not buy these.

perfect except for battery life deal breaker
Beautifully simple, large numbers visible from across the room, and HomeKit compatible. The magnetic mount makes battery changing easily, however 8 months battery life is not quite as advertised. I'm lucky to get 2 months out of it and batteries might have been cheaper if it used the more common CR2032, but I've already spent more on batteries than the device itself. Had I known battery life was this atrocious, I wouldn't have gotten these for my house. Of course you won't know battery life is bad until you're past the 1-month return window.

Such a shame. Nice looking and well built however they just aren't recommendable. They constantly go unresponsive within the apple home app. The battery goes down really quickly meaning you go through batteries nearly every month and one of them even displayed the wrong temperature... Apparently in my bathroom it was 300°C... The display is nice and readable wherever you are in the room which is nice when you want to check the temperature at a glance instead of opening the home app (or other smart home app you use). Connecting was as simple as scanning the code on the back and waiting for the device to recognise it. Once it connected it instantly switched to thread and began reporting the temperature of the room I decided to put the device in. Overall I think this product could be good but unfortunately lets down on battery life and reliability. The connectivity is very simple and easy but for the money I'd look elsewhere for a more reliable sensor. Also beware that Amazon themselves won't help you if the item doesn't work. I had 6 defective units and when contacting amazon they explained there is nothing they can do. Avoid. Avoid. AVOID.
