The Allen head screws are a good feature but the jam nuts are useless. The screws need to be at least 2mm longer with a NYLOC nut - so that it doesn't fall off. I ordered replacement Nyloc nuts on Amazon to try to fix the problem.

Normally I would weld 1" square tubing together but a new project required being able to disconnect certain pieces to add/remove a canopy. These looked like just what I needed so ordered a set. I selected this supplier as I noted in the pictures that the "fingers" on back side mated nice and flat - unfortunately the ones I received don't. They should have nice 90 degree bends but are more like 95ish degrees. This results in the "fingers" interlocking but with some offset exposed that can catch items. A feature I didn't notice the in ad is that one half has a thru-hole for the bolt whereas the other half is threaded. A pleasant surprise that makes the assembly go more easily as you can quickly thread the bolt in to hold the pieces together without having to add the nut. But make sure you don't dump all the pieces into one pile as you'll be searching for the mating pieces! The supplied nut/bolt are fine for most applications and the bolt length avoids excess threads exposed beyond the nut. However in my application there will be significant vibration so I opted for a longer bolt with flange head and flanged nylon locking nut. Final note is that the bolt hole is set back just enough that you can insert the 1" tubing up against the other piece, drill a hole thru the tubing, and insert the bolt. This makes the assembly much more secure than simply relying on the clamping force of the bolt to hold onto the slipped in piece of square tubing. Overall I'm very pleased with these connectors and when my next project needs ones I'll certainly buy these.
