Blink-182 turned to veteran punk rock producer Jerry Finn, who had previously worked on Green Day's breakthrough album, 'Dookie' (1994), to record their third album 'Enema Of The State'. Enema was the band's first album to feature drummer Travis Barker, who replaced original drummer Scott Raynor. Lyrically, the album is inspired by adolescent frustration and relationships. Guitarist Tom DeLonge and bassist Mark Hoppus primarily culled stories from friends and autobiographical situations to craft summery tracks revolving around breakups, suburban parties and maturity, as well as more offbeat subject matter such as UFO conspiracy theories. 'Enema of the State' had an extensive impact on contemporary pop punk, reinventing it for a new generation and spawning countless tributes and acolytes. About 12 by the sounds of it
About as dumb, adolescent, puerile, boorish, irreverent and flippin excellent as you're likely to get. Their previous efforts were pretty stripped down pop-punk but this had the good fortune to be well-produced which opened it up and struck the populace speechless. It is stupid but it is supposed to be. And in today's world (2011 at time of writing) it's almost essential to listen to music that makes you smile and invigorates rather than depresses. There is a mixture of good and bad on the album and there is filler but it all flows so perfectly that the consistent tone marries the whole, making even the lesser tracks inclusive to the entire album. Best tracks are: "Aliens Exist", "What's My Age Again?" , "Adam's Song" and "All the Small Things". They range from party tracks to shoe-gazing, fist-punching anthems. Their next album ahd better songs but Enema just feels right. It's not just the quality of the tracks that quanlifies an album, it's when it was released and the impact on the world it had at the time. And it was a pretty big crater.

She said that I was the one....
This is perhaps Blink-182's most notorious albums, it's what made them their big break within the music industry. It's great to hear them still having fun with this album because after this they begin to lose their immaturity. A great listen for any Blink fans out there.

Blink and you'll miss it
It's probably both a sign of my childishness and the quality of 'Enema of the State' that it's an album I can listen to as joyfully in my mid 20s as I did as a young teenager upon its release. Blink-182 have been pidgeonholed by critics, on numerous occasions, as teenage band, and of being juvenile, but neither seems a particularly valid criticism. Blink-182's hilariously awkward tales of adolescent love and childish adulthood (most notably the brilliant 'What's My Age Again') are much of what gives 'Enema' its appeal. The band, whilst not particularly virtuoso, clearly have an ear for a catchy melody, and the album draws one in with its buzzing riffs, frantic drumming, and Tom Delonge's yearning vocals, which are just on the right side of the troubled/whiney divide. Blink-182 also possess some real heart on the album's best tracks, such as the tale of unrequited love of 'Wendy Clear', and the perfectly pitched love song 'Going Away to College'. There's barely a weak track on 'Enema', and when at their best, Blink were easily a match for contemporaries like Green Day and Sum 41, with the album's tunefully noisy pop-punk sound. The one thing 'Enema' is lacking, I suppose, is variety. What Blink-182 do, they do extremely well; a fact evidenced by how fresh and relevant 'Enema' still sounds; but the album's 11 tracks are a pretty set format of ringing guitar, fast-paced drumming, yearning vocals; and, well, not much else. There are also one or two tracks which are more filler than killer; namely the rather inexplicable 'Aliens Exist'. Still, 'Enema' is a record which is lively, hugely enjoyable and contains some of Blink's best tunes and finest lyrics. "We started making out, and she took off my pants; but then I turned on the TV". Most of us have been there, and it's a line which causes me to smile and cringe at the same time; all set to a melody which sticks in the head for hours on end. And that, essentially, is what makes 'Enema of the State' such an enduring, relatable and fun album.

Turn low the radio and put this on instead
If like me, you love blink... you should get this. But if you’re a collector and want a cool coloured or limited edition vinyl for your collection... you shouldn’t get this. Standard black vinyl. But if you don’t care about that and just want to listen to this classic blink album in all of its vinyl glory... then you should get this. Arrived well packaged and undamaged

It's Blink, did you expect anything less than 5 stars? :P
As usual Blink just blow my mind in ways other bands simply cannot. I honestly don't know why I've gone this long without listening to the songs on this album. My favourites are Dyssentry Gary and Aliens exist but every song is just awesome to be honest.

Ottimo album, energia pura.
