Shipping Container Homes: A Guide on How to Build and Move into Shipping Container Homes with Examples of Plans and Designs

It's a decent book depending on your general construction knowledge
I'm on the fence between 3 and 4 stars. If you know nothing about container building (and I didn't), the first few chapters are informative as the author provides some important info that pertains specifically to container acquisition and building, but after that, it's pretty much an overview of standard non-container construction. If you have no construction experience at all, this book is a good primer. If you have any construction or even renovation experience, you'll find 2/3's of the book of limited value. I don't know when this book was written, but it has an entire page for "telephone" connections and that tells me the book hasn't been updated in a while as there is absolutely no mention of cable for hi-speed internet, satellite (if you're of grid), solar connections, etc. A lot has happened in the container building world in the last 5 years, so while this book does have some value in the early chapters, it is in need of an update. For $7 it was worth it to read the first few chapters. There are no color photos in the book. They are all grainy, black and white photos and some very simple diagrams, so for the cost, it wasn't a bad investment.

You Can do Much Better Doing a Google Search or Going on YouTube
I can't complain much, given what I paid for this book, but it isn't worth more than about 3 or 4 dollars...but if you are not a prime member, it will not be worth the shipping.I would actually say to pass on this book and just do a few FREE google searches and YouTube videos. You will come up with more. I am an avid DIYer... bordering a professional. I found the drawings/plan-views to provide very little use. Grab yourself a tape measure and measure out 3 or 4 feet. This is how wide they draw out some of the rooms. Too small. To the unsuspecting, person, they may not think about this, but really, grab a take measure. You may be better off purchasing some graph paper and drawing out your own plans. This book spends a fair amount of time on how to actually do some of the actual interior building, like framing and laying down flooring ( literally how to put down laminate, but not necessarily how it relates to a container, just generic "how to" stuff). Yes, my biases are coming through, as I already know how to do that, but again, there is very little the book provides that you can't find on YouTube. All of this being said, I have the book and if the electricity ever goes out, I have an easy, easy read...despite the wonky way some things are written out and repeated through the book.

Awesome read!
This book is perfect! I wanted to do some research and get a well-rounded review of container homes and how well they would or would not fit my lifestyle. With everything from floor plan examples to general instructions from beginning to end, this is the perfect book to start your research with! It also has pictures and shows more than one way of doing things. To the author: Fantastic job, this book is great!

Good Quality Information Needs Better Pictures.
It is a comprehensive schematic type book. I expected a little bit of more variety and creativity with some color pictures of different styles. It is almost like a home depot manual very cut and dry and in black and white inside. It is meant to be a true builders manual for a shipping container home.

Helpful
This book is really great! It's easy to read, there's tons of advice and the author makes you aware of a bunch of options with no nonsense. When I finally settle down I'll use this book to help me build my shipping home. I'm not personally interested in any of the floor plans in the book but maybe someone else would find them helpful. The rest of the info was very useful.

Informative but not as detailed as hoped
The book is pretty informative but doesn’t go into as many detailed blueprint drawings as I was hoping for.

Informative But Dull Visually
The book had what felt like a lot of useful information. It's just unfortunate that it's in black and white as I like to be able to see colour photos of shipping container homes to feel inspired. The design of the book kind of felt like it was just put into Microsoft Word and printed in grayscale.

OK book
Only buy one of these types books at a time, mostly all the same

Interesting but light on desired details
Not enough detail. Nice rough plans.I think having info on what the loads a canister can hold, where you can and can’t cut, foundation mounting etc.

Great start
Great book to start with when diving into the research part of a shipping container home project. There is also a lot of basic normal home interior information to though.
