Back To School (Mini Maggot)

This is an EP, but at 36mins long its 7mins longer than SLAYER-REIGN IN BLOOD full album. BACK TO SCHOOL is my fave DEFTONES song and video so to get the studio version, the live version and PINK MAGGIT which it is a remix of is great. You get 4 live songs and 3 studio. Again i got it at ZOVERSTOCKS for pennies so get it now before you can,t get it anymore or before you pay daft money on ebay.

It contains Back to School. Nothing more to say.

I bought this in the 'Amazon Marketplace' and paid onlya few pounds, so well worth the money. One of my favouriteDeftones tracks (in both its guises). It's a collectablebut would not want to pay full price.

people are missing the point of this album... bad quality, jumbled up not really people are missing that besides the opening selling song, tracks 2-5 are like a human wasteland that the recording echoes, the bleakness of this kind of anger. Track 6 is like a poignant reminder of what those who get off on this violence sound like to others who actually care for something... and we are left with a poignant reminder that 'all you are... is me' all those we are writing off are... with the human heartbeat trailing the album out...

Although i havent recieved this CD yet i have heard all the songs off it, although some not live. The main song on this is of course 'Back to School' which is the Deftones latest UK single, before 'Digital Bath'. Back to school unfortunately didnt come on the standard UK 'White Pony' so you either have to buy the single, or this fine CD. Its obviouse by the price that this is better value. You get the truely amazing single 'Back to school' (which is one of my favourite singles from 2000) and also many live and studio tracks. Im not quite sure why they put 'Pink Maggit' from White Pony on it, but it is a related track as it involves a whole section from Back to school in it. The CD contains many live tracks of Brilliant songs such as 'Teething' (which is not available on any of the albums, and also 'Back to school live'. All picked from the best performances. So you cant go wrong with this. A good CD to add to your CD collection to make sure you dont miss out on 'Back to school'.

Can The Deftones get any better? I was disappointed when Back To School wasn't on White Pony ( apart from the updated American version ). So, I had to at least buy myself the single to make up for it. From the amazing guitar riff on the start to the hard ending of the song, the Deftones deliver. It is a heavy, crashing sound mixed in with Chino Moreno's hypnotising voice. If you don't want to buy the single you should at least buy "around the fur" which is by far the best of their three albums. Lets hope for more from them in 2001...

When listening to White Pony, I loved Pink Maggit, and always thought, this song would be amazing if it had more pace. It was when I was watching the B-sides and Rarities DVD that suddenly, 'Back To school' came on.That song is now one of my favourite ever Deftones tracks.. it's powerful, slightly nu-metal, but hey, putting that aside, it's a heavy overload of strong emotion. The video is slightly corny, but perhaps it's tongue in cheek.. you can never tell with americans. Anyway, the rest of the tracks are a treat of live tracks and also 'Teething' which is a non album track, and also appears on the soundtrack to The Crow: City of Angels. For any Deftones fan, this I believe is an important CD to perchase, and it's cheap second hand too. For anyone not familiar with Deftones, I'd recommend giving 'White Pony' and 'Around The Fur' in particular a try.

Nobody should be reading my review, as this EP is about a decade old now. But if you are unfamiliar, this is Deftones at their best. White Pony is their crowning achievement, and this is a nice supplement to that album.I had pirated this long ago because I could never find it in stores. Thank you, Amazon, for allowing me to complete my Deftones CD collection! Now, if only I could find the incredi-rare Rush singles...
