Q: If i turn to "high" 900 lm setting, how long will it stay there? will it force a step down after a few minutes, or maintain the "high" setting?

A few minutes, it will start to heat up pretty quick. You can adjust the temperature at which it steps down for a little more runtime though.

Q: Will this flashlight run with 14500 PROTECTED lithium ion rechargables, or will it accept NON PROTECTED batteries. Please allow those that know answer

I bought this for my boyfriend and he says that it will run both non protected and protected batteries. He currently has a protected battery in it.

Excellent product simple and effective.Strong and robust. Reversible clip, so you can attach it to your hat like a head torch.Comes with a handy liion battery charger, which I have managed to lose already!Recommended.
