Works wonders
This solution has cleaned up brass door furniture that has not been touched in years. Used with stiff brush and soft cloth it has done wonders and this was just quickly trying it out. With a little more effort to clean the letterbox etc the door furniture will look like new. Very impressed. Yes you need a little elbow grease but it is well worth the effort. Will buy again.

Rustin Revelation on Brass Restoration
Rustins Brass Restorer is an absolute revelation. On a badly tarnished brass plaque, that had had lacquer applied, I had tried nearly every chemical going to clean the plaque, but no result whatsoever. With Rustins Brass Restorer, it worked immediately, resulting in a gleaming brass plaque, dedicated to all those who had served at Membury Airfield through the war years. See for yourselves at Membury Services on the Western side. A bit expensive, with delivery, perhaps, but worth every penny. Well done Rustins. Thoroughly recommended.

The portlights have a great deal of tarnish and areas of verdigris
I purchased this to help with the refurbishment of solid brass portlights on a boat. The portlights have a great deal of tarnish and areas of verdigris. I did one using wet flatting techniques followed by polishing. Results were good but it takes a long time to achieve them. I had hoped this would speed things up. Having tried this out I can say that it works as well as brasso on mild oxidisation. You paint it on and it fizzes up. Wipe off with superfine steel wool and it will be brighter and cleaner, but if you want a real shine you will still need to use Brasso afterwards. For anything more challenging it looks like I'll be sticking to wet flatting. One thing that this is helpful with is getting into little nooks and crannies so I'm not entirely disappointed, it still has its uses.

Great product
Fantastic product, always used Brasso before which does the job when not too tarnished. Our fire surround had become very tarnished so turned to Rustins as Brasso wouldn't touch it. Painted it on as per instructions, rubbed with 000 steel wool, washed off with water, dried with a paper towel, Wow, all gone, fantastic

Awesome but needs elbow grease
I bought this to try and restore a lock on a box that is over 40 years old. I took the lock off the box to make the job easier. I didn't use steel wool, as the piece has a pattern and I didn't want to scratch it, but the only other thing I had to hand was a small piece of a green scratch pad. It took a bit of effort, but results are worth it and speak for themselves. I found that it was better to saturate the cloth, there is no point trying to use it sparingly and use a lot of elbow grease. This took me overall about 30 minutes and scrubbing and I cleaned it after with water. I used about half a bottle (I also cleaned the lock, which is not shown). I am enthused enough to try on a few other things around the house. I used gloves, but they split but my hands were ok, a little dried out, but I recommend using gloves. The smell isn't that strong compared to something like nail polish remover, but it is chemical so you will need to be aware of the surface you use it on. I cleaned mine in the kitchen on a towel. Would defo recommend and buy again. Brilliant stuff.
