What is frustration free packaging ?

It's just Amazon's term for a product that is easy to open. Nothing to do with the contents inside

Does frustration free packaging mean it doesn’t come in a box? i saw a previous answer that says the bags are numbered, but lego always numbers them.

Mine came in the regular Lego box.

I dont want shipping labels stuck to the Lego box and mailed. Is that what happens with "frustration free packaging"?

Can a better looking wood or metal frame be substituted

Yes, the white matting and outer frame are all built separate to the main section that makes up the artwork. Only extra thing to consider would be that some of the pieces do overlap the edge onto the matting.
