PLAYSEAT Challenge - Black (EU)

This review is for the Playseat Challenge. I've noticed the reviews seem to be for any one of the seats in this listing, so I figured I'd make that clear. The wheel I have is a Logitech G29. As glorified deck chairs go, this one is really good. I really enjoyed putting it all together. There are simple instructions but you don't really need them, it's quite a logical thing to do. There's bolts to fix the wheel to plate, which are kind of fiddly to put in. I recommend doing that before you attach the cross beam to the chair. The cross bar hinges on one side so you can get in and out. There's a small bar the extends from the front leg to ensure it doesn't tip up when the bar is lifted. For the pedals, another small bar stops the unit slipping forward and a strap wraps around and secures by velcro. The seat is comfy, it's not tiring to sit in for any period of time and can be adjusted by tightening / loosening the straps that hold the alcantara seat cover on. The chair is steady and if tightened sufficiently, the wheel fixture still has an occasional wobble but once playing you don't notice. Folding the seat is as simple as you imagine a deck chair would be. The top ties together with the supplied Velcro straps and the pedals fold up and are secured in the same way. It's not as light as a deck chair though but it's easy enough for an average human to carry. Although it's early days (2 days in fact) I've not found a downside to it. I certainly don't regret opting for this over the more expensive Evolution. Although obviously, the dream is the Playseat F1!

Definitely worth getting one of these if you are after a racing chair for your gaming wheel, but don't have the space to store a full size rig when not in use. The chair is much sturdier than I was expecting and is easily adjustable to let you get your preferred seating style. Doesn't take up loads of space when it's folded and I love the fact that you leave the wheel and pedals attached before folding it. Assembly is easily done, just takes a little bit of adjusting at first to get the chair how you like it, this is easy to do though and once you've got it right it can stay with these settings when folded. It feels like it is made from good quality materials, the frame is thick metal and the material used for the seat cover is very comfortable. Also it's not too heavy to lift when it's all folded up, which is a bonus. I originally looked at buying either one of these or a foldable stand for my racing wheel, but the playseat will allow me to use other wheels on it as well should I change my console in the future- whereas some of the stands are wheel-specific so would need to be changed if buying a new wheel. Like some of the online reviews say, it's not a hardcore racing-sim chair, but it definitely fits the bill for me. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase- just wish I had bought one sooner!

A great, cheap and compact way to race without taking over the family home. Simple to set up, plenty of adjustable parts to make it your own. The seat can even be adjusted to achieve different racing positions. There is a lot of Velcro but it works to great effect. The Alcantara seat material is comfy and won't leave you sweaty unlike leather. The Playseat Challenge folds away neatly and compact. your own body weight creates the ridged and solid seat to sit in for those long endurance races. Works well with the Logitech G29. you can even purchase a gear shifter attachment if you wish.

A very good chair! Easy set up and folds away perfect. Me being 6 foot 2" tall, I fit very easy into it, and was very comfortable over a few hours,wiith adjustable pedal base to suit my legs. The build quality is very good. The wheel positioning isn't great as only up and down adjustment, but set the chair as far back as possible with the wheel slightly upwards works better for me. Could of had a pedal base where you can have upward tilt instead of just sitting on the floor, but put a few books underneath it works ok, also does take a bit of time to set your perfect seating position, thats why its only got 4 stars.But overall it's a great chair for the money. I nearly forgot to mention mine didnt come with the pedal strap holder, was a bit miffed but an easy fix with cable ties!! I bought this racing seat to play Gran Turismo Sport on PS4 & Logitec G29, I wanted to go with the Playseat GT but with space being an issue this model was a good compromise. I was sceptical at first but decided that the reviews were good enough to take the punt. I am so glad i did, the build quality is good and feels reassuringly solid. It was easy to setup and has a multitude of adjustments. The force feedback from the G29 transfers through the frame of the PlaySeat offering further immersion into the game, especially in VR mode where you get the most realistic experience. At first my laptimes were worse, I had gotten used to using an office chair and PC desk but after a few hours I started shaving time off my previous fastest laps and by the following day I was gaining as much as 3s. The wheel mount is on a hinged arm which can be raised to get in and out of the seat easily but it also makes it quick to remove the entire arm complete with wheel via the spring loaded guide pin. This is useful at times when you merely want a comfortable gaming chair, i have worked from home on a laptop in it too.

This has been on the matket for years selling like hotcakes. I now understand why, supreme quality and surprising car feel. Just buy it, you will be satisfied.

Accrocher son volant sur une chaise ou une table, il faut avouer que cela n'a absolument rien de confortable. Mais un siège de course, c'est souvent un objet coûteux, encombrant et totalement incompatible avec une vie de couple 😁 😁 😁. Après avoir étudié le segments des supports, j'ai fini par le laisser de côté pour me diriger vers les sièges. Évidemment Playseat sort du lot, de par l'étendue de sa gamme mais aussi par sa renommée. Et elle n'est pas usurpée au déballage du Playseat Challenge : bien emballé et parfaitement protégé, chaque pièce sensible à reçu son morceau de mousse pour éviter les chocs internes. 3 minutes plus tard, l'ensemble est au sol, prêt au montage. Rien de bien sorcier, tout s'emboîte parfaitement, c'est propre et bien ajusté. Le métal est de belle facture, épais et bien peint. Une fois l'assemblage réalisé, il ne reste plus qu'à fixer le volant et le pédalier. Je possède un t150 Thrustmaster, seul volant à ne pas disposer de trous de fixation. Dommage, car le support fixé au siège est pré-perforé pour beaucoup d'autres volants. Ce sera donc avec la pince, mais cela ne bouge pas d'un iota. Pour le pédalier c'est mieux : une fois posé sur son support, calé au fond contre la butée, une sangle le maintient en place. Même constat, ça ne bronche pas. Une fois tout cela fait, il va falloir régler le fauteuil. Pas grand-chose de ce côté-ci, si ce n'est l'éloignement du pédalier et l'allonge des deux sangles servant d'accoudoirs. En jouant sur la longueur de celles-ci on va abaisser ou relever le siège, augmentant ou diminuant l'angle formé par le dossier du fauteuil et la partie soutenant les cuisses. Autrement dit, si les sangles sont longues, le dos sera plus incliné vers l'arrière et le siège plus bas. A l'inverse, si elles sont raccourcies le dos sera bien droit mais les jambes plus relevées et le volant plus proche de vous. Pour ma part,mesurant 1,76m, j'ai opté pour la longueur presque maximale des sangles. Et le confort me direz vous ? Et bien, sachez qu'on y est très bien assis. 2h de jeu ce matin, et aucune gêne, aucun désagrément, que du bonheur. Cerise sur le gâteau, caractéristique indispensable pour préserver les relations dans le couple, l'ensemble se replie en quelques secondes, sans rien démonter et peut être rangé dans un simple placard. Des défauts ? Eeeuuuuhhh, honnêtement je ne vois pas vraiment. Le tarif est maîtrisé, le confort et l'aspect pratique sont là, le volant et le pédalier ne bougent pas, les matières sont de qualité et le tout est parfaitement bien construit.

First of all, if you are looking at this chair, you must set your expectations straight. This is not a replacement for a full framed rig. This is a foldable cockpit and it works wonderfully as one. Comfort: 9.5/10 I am 5’7” and 170lbs and this chair is very comfortable for my size. The material of the seat is very nice and it cups well your body. However, I can see how taller people might have a different experience as my head touches the top of the seat. I have used it for long hours of racing and did not feel back pain. It does take a couple of tries to find a comfortable position but once you do you’re good. Installation: 10/10 Extremely easy. Took 10 minutes to setup. Sturdiness: 7/10 If you are planning to use this chair with a direct drive wheel base and a load cell brake, you need to reinforce the chair. I purchase mods from lowdown shifters which completely transformed it. With the mods it becomes a 10/10. If you are planning to use the chair with a belt wheel base and no load cell brake, then the chair is easily a 9/10 with out mods it terms of sturdiness. Portability: 10/10 The #1 reason I bought this chair is for the convenience of putting it away. I do not have the real estate in my home to leave my setup open all the time. With this chair, I simply fold it and put it away as is. Safety: 10/10 I have not felt unsafe using this chair. At no point did I feel it would collapse on me. The velcro strips holding the fabric are quite strong. Cost: 6/10 If you are planning to use this chair with a direct drive wheel base and load cell pedals, then I highly recommend the mods from lowdown shifter. However, with this extra cost, you are getting very close to the cost of a basic solid framed rig. If portability is very important for you then this chair is absolutely good. If you can dedicate some room for a fixed rig, then you may want to consider alternate options. For my needs, I do not regret buying this chair at all. My experience is only positive due to the modification I brought to the chair and I know I would have had a different experience without them.

『City Car Driving』と『F1 2018』で遊ぶために購入しました。ステアリング・コントローラーは ・Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel で、ステアリング・ホイールを ・Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On に交換して使っています。 プレイシートの組み立ては簡単でしたが、座面の高さの調節が少しやりづらいです。座面の高さの調節は、フレームの開き具合を変えることでできます。そのためには、肘掛に当たるベルクロ（赤い糸で「CHALLENGE」の刺繍があるベルト）の長さを変える必要がありますが、このベルクロを外すとフレームが開ききってしまいます。ちょうどいい座面高になるフレームの開き具合を見つけ、ちょうどいい開き具合の状態でベルクロを付けるのに苦労しました。 T300本体の取り付けは、付属のネジですぐにできました。しっかり固定できるので、けっこう素早くステアリング操作をしても、ぐらつく感じはまったくないです。ペダル・ユニットの固定はベルクロで行います。手で触ると、多少ふわふわと動いてしまうように感じますが、足で踏み込むときにはわかりませんでした。アクセルもブレーキもしっかり踏み込むことができます。ペダル・ユニットを固定したフレームは、手回し式のポリプロピレン製（？）のネジで奥行きを調節できます。このネジの強度に若干不安を覚えましたが、そんなに頻繁に調節しないと思うので、気にしないことにしました。 乗り込む（座る）ときは、ステアリング・コントローラーの固定台が付いたフレームを、左方向に回転させて避けさせることができます。でもめんどくさがりの私は、背もたれに片手をついて片方の足先を固定台の下に差し入れてから、肘掛に両手をついて座面におしりをのせます。それから残った片足を、足先からペダル・ユニットの方に入れて、ちゃんと乗り込めています。主に遊んでいるのが『F1 2018』ですので、ちょっとややこしい乗り込み方は、むしろフォーミュラ・カーにふさわしい感じがするから楽しいです。 パソコンを設置してあるデスクは一般的なもので、天板の高さは75cmくらい、奥行きは50cmくらいです。プレイシートをデスクの下にめいっぱい押し込むと、T300本体の上部が天板に当たって傷がつきそうだったので『コマンドータブ』を貼っておきました。 モニタのサイズは28インチです。座る位置はけっこう後ろにも下にもさがるのですが、思ったより画面を見にくく感じませんでした。首を回さなくても、画面全体が視野に入るのでこの方がいいかもしれないくらいです。視線は、画面を少し見上げるような角度になりますが、背もたれに後頭部をつけて運転できるので、姿勢としては自然な感じがします。 プレイシートの構造はデッキチェアみたいなものなので、座り心地はそれほど期待していませんでしたが、アルカンターラ生地の触り心地とあいまって、とても快適です。おしりの部分を支えるベルトが固いせいか、少し当たる感じがありますが、プレイに集中してしまうと気にならなくなりますし、痛くなるわけでもありません。 ホイール・スタンドやシミュレーター用コクピットなどを使うのは初めてなので、他の製品とは比べようがありませんが、とても満足しています。いろいろと悩んだ末に選んだ製品ですが、買ってよかったと強く思います。
