Easy to install, decent size, functions well and is waterproof

I needed a reliable and safe way of getting electricity into the garden to enable the running of a pond. The extention lead that comes supplied with the box is ideal as it has a 10m length of cable, at the moment I need to use the cable through a window and I am still able to lock my window which is reassuring. The box itself holds the 4 plug extension and holds each cable in place, although quite stiff to get each cable into each slot, once in they are held securely and safe from water entering. Before ordering I read in the reviews that hinge had broken, so far I have had to unlock and lock the hinge quite a few times and it does feel like it could break it has been absolutely fine, it may be more brittle in winter but only time will tell but for now it actually feels like a good strong hold once locked and thanks to the length of cable I am able to position the box in a sheltered area so is fairly protected from the weather, I will eventually get it mounted onto a wall so it is not left sitting on the floor. So far I am very pleased with this box and extension lead and feel the pond equipment is safe from the elements.

Great bargain for what you get, a super long extension and weatherproof box. However, the plastic is quite flimsy around the sealing part and ypu could see this wasnt quite 100% weather tight, so I have used some tape to seal this. The other components for the cable entrance / exit are well made and robust though.

I've had two of these products for a few weeks now, and it is definitely what I was looking for. I live in a fairly wet area of the UK and there has been no evidence of any water penetration at all so far. The lead is of a good enough quality that you can fix it to an external wall and there is no weakness in the outer / protective sleve when pinned with cable clips. The plug itself is also of a good quality and feels robust enough to survive an outdoor environemnt. Obvioulsy this is now set in place and hasn't been moved at all. The seal on the box where the leads enter / exit is a bit tricky to refit once opened for the first fit but for the sake of a minute to line up all the slots in the box / fitting, it is more than easy enough to do.

Good solid box, easy to position the adapter for use. The seals on the cable outlets are very tight on 3 core 1.5mm cable but anything smaller is OK

Let's face facts - most of us were looking for a box that we could use outside to fit our plugs, usually those annoying tall/long plugs that outdoor lights come with that just don't fit in the standard outdoor plug sockets. That's what I was looking for anyway! And, in short, this does the job! 1st - I have taken a video that looks at the box from all angles, so sorry if I missed anything off. It shows the length and insides of this plenty large box. I hope the video is useful! 2nd - I took lots of pics to compliment the already present pictures that folk have been good enough to leave - I have concentrated a little more on the cable section too as you can then see how the cable fits through and how snug/watertight (kind of) it is. 3rd - If you follow me or have seen my reviews before, I always return to update the review in the future for all the products I buy - that way you can see how the item has lasted or not - my reviews are always honest! Just to point out that this is IP54 rated. Now I am no electrician but I know you have to take the first digit (5 for 'solid protection' info) and second digit (4 for 'liquid ingress protection' info) to check what kind of conditions the product can withstand: 5 = Protected against quantity of dust that could interfere with the normal operation of the product but not fully dust tight. Complete protection against solid objects. So you can see what IP54 means to us lay folk - good for that 'weatherproof' that we may need. Other reviewers have stated how they have it out over winter and extended periods of time, but I think it's best to at least make sure it's got some cover to avoid the most wettest of weather, such as against a wall or covered loosely with a box (we use an old recycling box turned upside down. However, just follow your own safety measures and use the box as per the manufacturers instructions to be safe - don't take advice off random folk here/on the tinternet! You can see that the cable provided is plenty long enough too - lots of scope to position the box where you want it to be and great to see this included too! 4 = Protection assured against water splashing from any angle.
