The mirrors are a thick mirrored plastic held together with tape, so wont break like glass would. They do exactly what I wanted them to do, and the edges are smooth, not sharp so wont damage me or the fabric. I can happily put this in my handbag when going fabric shopping knowing it wont break if knocked about a bit, and the tape can be easily repaired if it wears out in the future.
