Excellent mechanical keyboard for work and writing at an unbeatable price
I’m a photographer and academic, so I spend long hours typing. I wanted a mechanical keyboard with a good typing feel but without spending over $100. The Newmen GM1000 has been a fantastic surprise in terms of quality and price. 🔹 What I liked the most: ✅ Great brown switches for typing: They’re not as loud as blue switches but still provide a satisfying tactile response. Typing feels smooth and comfortable. ✅ Fast and reliable connectivity: No input lag or missed keystrokes, even when typing fast. ✅ Works perfectly on MacBook: No latency for normal use, everything responds instantly. ✅ Customizable RGB lighting: The lighting effects are good and can be customized easily. ✅ Includes a numpad: Hard to find at this price range. Very useful for work. ✅ High-quality USB-C cable: A great surprise! Many keyboards include low-quality USB-C cables, but this one is well-built and durable. ✅ Unbeatable value for money: I got it on sale for $32 USD, and at this price, nothing else compares in feel and quality. 🔻 What could be improved: ❌ Lesser-known brand: Finding replacement keycaps might be tricky, but it does include 4 extra switches in the box, which is a great plus—even more expensive keyboards don’t offer this. 📌 Conclusion: If you’re looking for an affordable mechanical keyboard for long hours of comfortable typing, the Newmen GM1000 is an excellent choice. The brown switches feel amazing, the connectivity is flawless, it works perfectly on MacBook, the numpad makes it great for productivity, and the USB-C cable is of very good quality. Highly recommended, especially if you find it on sale!

Smooth typing. Good looks. Compact form factor.
Initial review. Will update if I encounter issues. Coming from a Corsair K70 which I've had for a few years and the LED's have begun to fail on it. Decided to go with something more compact without the super-gamer vibe (while still being capable). Initial impressions are positive. Keyboard has nice heft for being mostly plastic and looks sharp in a retro way. They keystrokes are nice and almost soft in comparison to the Corsair. I went with Brown switches vs the linear MX Speed of the Corsair. I neither love nor hate the Browns.. The tactile bump is almost unnoticeable to be honest. I've had blues in the past and remember them being much more clicky. Keycaps seem fine, printing is clean and the lettering is transparent so the backlight shines through. Anyhow I hooked the GM1000 up via USB (haven't fiddled with the wireless connectivity yet) and installed the Newmen software... Software is pretty straightforward and does not continuously run in the background. This is a gigantic plus for me. I hated the Corsair Icue software and how it slowed start times and also ran 24/7 int he background. I believe the Newmen software can even be uninstalled once you get things configured how you like (lighting memory seems to be onboard). The software is pretty simple as it is mainly used to set lighting and key remaps, much of which can be done without the software using manual KB inputs. Note that the box comes with 4 spare switches (same color), a key-puller, and dust cover. I really appreciate the dust cover inclusion. Minor quibbles... When I fired up the board the Win key was perma-lit. I did FN+Win to unlock it but for some reason wouldn't work. I re-set the keyboard to defaults via the software and it worked fine after that. Note, this was an open box unit, so likely user-error from the prior owner and not a Newmen issue directly. For some reason I couldn't readily find the software on the Newmen website (though I swear there used to be a product page for the gm1000). Anyhow, if you google "newmen gm1000 software" you can find it easily enough. So all in... GM1000 gets thumbs up from me. TLDR: Looks good. Build quality seems good. Software is lightweight. Minor issues easily solved. Comes with extra switches, key-puller, and dust cover.

Very nice KB for the low price.
I only use the usb-C connection so cant comment on BT or 2.4ghz. The feel of the key presses is above average imo. The spacing is a bit tight but the keys are large and easy to press. So far I like everything about this KB except the location of the Del key and the problem of every KB the large Cap Locks key that you cant lock. I hate that I always have to remove it. The seller went so far as to send me an email directing me to download the newest firmware but the email pointed at the wrong file, lol. A quick email to Tech support and they assisted me getting it all up and going quickly and efficiently.

Solid construction and performance
I tried 3 other mechanical keyboards (RoyalKludge, etc) and this was easily the most solidly constructed. I almost gave up and went back to membranes until I found this one. The switches are the most important part of any mechanical keyboard, and these feel excelent. Do not settle for generic unbranded switches. All those I tried were very wobbly and rattley. This Newman build currently ships with Gateron which are perfectly smooth and stable feeling. If you buy this keyboard elsewhere online you can get it pre-installed with more premium switches and keycaps at extra cost, but these are perfect for me and keeps the cost down. Readily accepted my keycap set from YMDK but I had no real complaints with stock keycaps. Backlighting does its job and doesn't require software. Hot swappable in case you need to replace a switch and comes with 4 spares. Haven't tested wireless since its inherently laggy and unreliable compared to wired, but its nice to have the options of both BT and Wifi. What else could you need? This is an underrated manufacturer with only a few reviews who deserves more recognition. Supposedly they have been manufacturing for around 20 years. I will look out for more from them in the future.
