The Budos Band III

Dangerously cool.
The best way to describe the recipe for The Budos Band's sound is this: take Afro beats, soulful grooves, the swagger of rhythm and blues, jazz flavor, and a good dose of funk. Stir thoroughly. Lastly, add some touches of 60's era psychedelic rock and you've got The Budos Band. In short, the Staten Island group has always gravitated toward experimentation and eclecticism. With III, the band's third full-length release, the sound reaches a new peak. Infinitely unorthodox and inventive, Budos has style to spare. Knowing that the album was recorded during a 2 day period only makes the feat more impressive. Then again, maybe that's the primary reason why III sounds so fresh, so original. The eye-catching cover art is a perfect match for the music. The group is intimidating and brash, even as they're revealing their elegance and prowess. It's difficult to identify the best parts of this album because all of the tracks are solid. To me, that's the ultimate compliment.

An excellent album from the opening notes to the close. The record is 180g quality and it sounds exquisite.

They keep getting better
Better than "Dig" better than "II". "III" keeps the heavily percussion and horn-based bandright in the groove. Better arrangements, more solos. I still would like to see more free expression of solo horns and sometimes the tracks are waaay too short to get a full exploration of the groove.Keep it up guys. Man, I love this stuff through hi-fi phones or in the car.

I don't know why I find the Budos Band so hilarious, but I do love them so.

Instrumental Groove-O-Rama
The Budos Band is easily one of the grooviest bands around, and this one is their most rewarding album to date. Afrobeat, funk and soul are the main ingredients here - blended by the twelve-piece band into a predictable but perfectly executed set of 10 instrumental originals and a cover version of 'Day Tripper' by The Beatles. Though not every tune is equally compelling, there are plenty of stand-out tracks to make this record more than worthwhile. If you're looking for an album of accessible and (mostly) danceable contemporary grooves: no need to look further.

Amazing.
Heard a track of theirs being used on the telly, I Shazamed it and was surprised to find it was a current band and not some long forgotten band from the 60's.I downloaded the track to my iPhone but really wanted the album, so I took it back to '99 and bought a physical copy. The album is all killer no filler, however, special attention should be made to Black Venom, Natures Wrath and Crimson Skies. This album was made for driving at night or whilst enjoying the drawings of Rockabilly Batman.
