Real Flame Black Hollis Electric Fireplace - Freestanding with Remote Control - 6 Flame Colors & 5 Brightness Levels, Black

I bought this beautiful stove for secondary heat in my parlor. It does exactly what I wanted it to do. It’s a beautiful stove, it heats beautifully and it looks perfect in my late 1800’s home. I’m thinking about getting another to add to my kitchen. If Real Flame madd an electric pot belly stove, I’d buy it now! Some folks state that the stove is difficult to assemble. We took our time and didn’t have any trouble. But it would simplify the process if the pieces were labeled. That’s the only recommendation I can make about assembly.

Very happy with this fireplace! Assembly wasn't bad and it looks and works great. It's really added a cozy feeling to our home this winter and the heating feature has been nice to take the chill out of the air too

First, super fast fedex shipping and even with a couple holes in one box, product arrived in perfect condition. The instruction book is AWFUL, the pictures do not show spatial orientation as to which panel goes which way, think Ikea with no pictures. The panels require you to attach correctly and having not assembled this previously, they are very poorly presented. American design says the website, Chinese built, that rings true, classic Chinese instructions. Once assembled its a tight unit that indeed has been well designed. It would be much easier if either labeled or a video showing correct orientation of the panels on the company website. STRONGLY suggest you have LONG phillips head screw driver (think 24 inches), the screws require a bit of strength to tighten, and a long fender screwdriver provides the best torque in getting them tight. power screwdrivers likely would over tighten and spin. OK, that said the heating unit is really nice and is what is described, again, the long screw driver will make attachment way easier as space is limited where you need to screw it in. All supplied hardware included , and 2 little steel straps that are not listed on the parts list, i will call customer service on a business day to ask what they are. Also the real flame company website sends no feedback that you have registered the product , additionally the 'create an account' feature doesn't work. So you are an unknown entity to them, ill ask CS about that issue.........

After using this unit for a few months, the fan broke. It now makes a REALLY loud noise when the unit is turned on. Its very pretty, but if you buy it, get it from Pottery Barn or someone who will accept a return for what is a very expensive but seemingly pretty shoddy product. I haven't been able to reach anyone who is willing to help me have it replaced or repaired, which means now I have a giant and heavy pile of crap that I paid a great deal of money for and nobody who seems to be willing to be held accountable.

So far so good. Pro tip for assembly... Drive every screw into the hole it will be installed into FIRST, then back it out. Then put the fireplace pieces in place and drive the screws in a second time. The screws have a coating that makes it hard to drive in the first time. Doing this opens the threads up and makes driving the screw in much easier. The screwdriver has to be at a slight angle due to the tight fit and doing this will make assembly easier and should help you avoid stripping a screw head.

I am very picky about what goes in my home and the Hollis electric fireplace exceeded my expectations by far. My design style is Nordic Farmhouse and I like the clean lines of this model. Stovepipe completes it and sets it apart from other electric fireplaces. Brings a needed presence to a room; it is larger and more expensive looking than I anticipated. Nice that the black finish is matte, and the fake logs and flames actually look quite nice. Completely amps up the cozy. Highly recommend this.

Fireplace came in 3 separate boxes, well packaged, assembly took my husband and me 1 hr to build, the metal is flexible so it helps to have two sets of hands to line up the screw holes. It looks fantastic, emits heat and is a great replacement for our 1970s wood stove.

The directions of how to put it together were awful but the item itself was just as picture showed
