Obviously any food left out could attract rats, mice, insects etc. However I keep mine either in an enclosed plastic container or open in the conservatory and they have not attracted rats. You have to be sensible and responsible.

Which bird feeder should you use with the suet pellets? I have a Pestaway feeder, but the birds don't seem able to get the pellets out! Thanks

Garden's undergoing changes, so everyone's being fed from the ground. There are no complaints. I'll be putting them in a peanut feeder, for smaller birds, although it's mostly the starlings and pigeons that devour them here.
