I need to replace my gxp sram bb but the item states that its cups. does that mean its cups only? can i change just the cups on my bb?

I think it means cups including bearings which always come with GXP cups. The axle will normally be bonded into one of your cranks with GXP bottom brackets

If your frame is standard BSA threaded 68mm width and the Sram Red crankset is a GXP fitting then yes it should be fine.
