Not for some cases...
This is a great quality product from well-known reputable company, a PSU with great modularity and great performance, and frankly a good value. Lots of connectors and on the shift model, if that's what you're looking at side mounted connection points. Here's where the details come in. Is this PSU is primarily for cases with side mounted PSU slots, while in a wider case this might work in a flat mount situation, most likely you are going to need a fairly wide case to house the wiring coming off the supply without bending the wires too much. Even then in some side mount cases, or the PSU is mounted on its side, the wires sticking upright can still impede on certain things, for example with the Lian-Li o11 dynamic XL, The upright facing ports for the connectors on the wires to plug into impede with the bottom hot swap hard drive bay. Now if I really wanted to press the wires down flat against the power supply unit I could probably still fit the hot swap bay in the case, but it wouldn't give much room for the wires, nor allow for much passive heat dissipation from the PSU. In this particular instance with the case I chose a standard end connector output PSU would have been the better choice, as there is ample room at the end for wiring clutter, but due to the hot swap bay mounted above the power supply unit, the side output of the shift model is not intuitive for my case. Removal of the bottom hot swap bay in my case alleviated the issue, but also presents the inconvenience of not having all four hot swap bays available. I never thought I would use this feature, but over the years as I have acquired multiple hard drives and stored up massive amounts of data, it actually comes in handy for moving data back and forth between drives. So no stars docked for the design it's actually great, just really think about whether or not you need the side output connectors and whether or not you will have enough room in your case. They make it more convenient to plug and unplug additional wires without having to remove the power supply unit completely, however you may run into spacing issues in smaller cases. Situationally recommended.

Couldn't be happier; what a design!
I’ve always hated how traditional PSU cables connect — reaching around the back, cramming fingers into tight spaces. That’s why I was excited about the Corsair Shift 1200X’s side-access design, and I’m happy to report: in real-world use, it’s even more convenient than I expected. ✅ Ease of installation: The side-mounted connectors make cable management a breeze, especially in larger cases where you have the rear panel clearance. For newer PC builders, this layout is much easier to work with compared to standard designs. ⚠️ Important tip: Before you buy, check your case dimensions carefully. If you’re building in a micro-ATX or ITX case, measure twice — this PSU’s side-access layout requires extra clearance on the rear side panel that small cases may not have. ✅ Noise & cooling: I can barely hear this PSU even under load, so I assume it’s cooling efficiently. No noticeable coil whine or fan ramping in my system. ✅ Cabling quality: I was pleasantly surprised by the included Corsair Type 5 cables — they’re flexible, well-made, and didn’t make me feel the need to swap them for aftermarket ones.lling I figured I would do a cable swap but was actually satisfied by the quality of cables it came with already

Great PSU so far, but be aware there's a chance this won't fit in your case.
I love this power supply and wished I could use it in my next build. I grabbed my first one when my power supply for my current computer decided to stop working and paired with the cablemod cables. It works great and fits well in the Fractal Design Pop Air Mini. With that said, and why I specified my case above, it was time for me to upgrade to a new build entirely. So, I wanted to grab another of these Shift variant PSUs to use in the new build. This WILL NOT fit in an NZXT H3 and as far as I've read, it won't fit the H5 Flow (2024) as well. Even with the cablemod cables, it just wasn't slim enough for the cables to sit inward enough for the back panel to close. I'm not lowering my rating based of this though. Sometime components don't fit. If the Shift was like 2-3mm thinner, I think it could've fit too. So, it's a shame but I anticipated this and had the standard RM850x on hand as well. PS--The normal RM850x will fit with the H3 Flow simply due to it being a standard looking PSU and that's the unit I went with instead.

Better than RM750x and worth the difference in $$
I had a circuit breaker tripping from an arc fault, and it turns out the culprit was my old RM750x. The RM850x not only has more power capacity but higher rated components that can buffer noise from GPUs that can cause this, which solved the problem.

Corsair RM1200x Shift
A simple plug and play, I have it in a 802 silent base and it's a tight fit on the back panel, but it's a fit. I'd recommend you MAKE SURE you properly route the cables so that they do not interfere with the side panel before closing, no forcing the things closed No coil whine on full load on my unit I'd say the one thing that influencers are pushing this thing for is not applicable -- the ease of getting to these cables to swap things about when necessary. The routing is wonderful, but the plugs are actually puny, as in like the size of a male's pinky where the fingernail starts, maybe 9-15mmX5mm, depending on which plug it is, and they're tightly packed, so it's still a PITA to get stuff in and out All that said, I can use the extra space in the front to fit in more filtered fans, where traditional layout plugs would interfere with the space, so highly recommend it for that reason alone Definitely recommend it

As far as I am concerned Corsair make the best PC power supplies you can buy for the money, this one goes one step better with the Flex cable routing. No more trying to fit hand into tight spaces or having to unscrew power supply to connect power cables. Everything is completely accessible on the supplies side panel!!! Could not ask for more convenient and easy installation and setup...

I purchased one of these and found out it did not have the cable for ATX drives. However, I re-ordered another one and it had everything I needed to set up my computer
