how long do the pads last, or when should you replace?

Pads are made of thick fabric with a type of towelling outer so you can put them in a washing machine. I bought an extra set of pads so I could have one on/one off at any one time. So far no sign of wear. I think they will last a long time unless your floor is particularly rough and pulls them. That said I use mine on a stone floor and they cope fine.

To clean carpets wouldn't it have to suck the water back into itself? How can it clean carpets if the gunk is left on carpet? What am I missing?

The heat of the steam leaves the carpet damp rather than wet and the residue dries very quickly. The carpet is cleaned but the main advantage is that the steam heat sanitises the carpet killing any bugs that may exist in the pile. We have used it on tiles and carpets and found it to be really effective. Hope this is of help.

No, definitely NOT a carpet washer! You can use it ‘refresh’ a rug or small area of carpet with a bit of steam, but not wash. It’s a mop that pumps out steam. For carpet wash you need something that sprays out soapy water then sucks it back up, like a Bissell or Vax.

DOES IT CLEAN SETTEES

Hi Janet. I don't know the answer to this I'm afraid. I do know that I was very disappointed with the H20. It didn't clean my tiles or carpets as well as I expected and it made a bit of a mess of one of my wooden floors. I have returned mine and hope for a full refund.
