These compostable bags are really good. They are strong, large and don’t leak. Fair enough, they are more expensive than non-compostable bags but are a lot more planet friendly. They are better than those biodegradable bags that release micro plastics or some corn starch bags that are not home compostable as they can take ages to finally degrade. The only thing you have to watch with Pup Republic bags is that if you store them in the moist, moderately warm conditions ( as you would find in a home compost bin) they will start to decompose while still on the roll. These bags definitely exceed the requirements of EN13432, ATSM D6400. I can recommend them.

Do not buy these. I have just thrown away more than half a box of them as they simply do not open. The first roll I used I found about 50% were usable and the further down the box I got 99% cannot be opened. This caused embarrassment on more than one occasion when our with my dog. They are great quality material, strong etc. but you simply cannot use them. I can’t see a use by date and I started using them as soon as I received them. Extremely disappointed.

I like that the do not contain plastic at all and are genuinely home compostable plant based material. (ie. Corn starch). I Hate plastic bags and some poo bags describe themselves as earth friendly or biodegradable, but they are not 100 percent plastic free and do not properly BIO degrade, so are still damaging to the environment.The only downside with these plant based versions is that they are more expensive (working out at around 8.3 pence per bag, when you can go into the Co-op and buy a corn starch compostable carrier bag for 5 pence per bag, and plastic poo bags at a third of the price). In time it would be nice to see ALL plastic bags banned in favour of compostable plant based, and at a more reasonable price.

Strong and large enough that their not having tie handles isn’t a problem. A bonus is that dog walkers with the odd habit of hanging used bags on trees and bushes for all to enjoy can’t do so with these. Easy to open - another bonus. An alternative to plastic packaging would be an improvement.

Has something changed with these bags? I've been using them for a year and was always very pleased with the quality, a proper cornstarch bag just like food waste bags just better...... BUT I've just received my latest order and they now feel like plastic bags, crunchy and rustley just like a cheap carrier bag. They appear to be thinner and I'm waiting to see how they react in the poo bin for a week or so but these are definitely different and I will be monitoring from now on..... I suspect it could be time to change brand! Very disappointing.

These are really good bags, they are strong, and the number of bags in the box represents excellent value for money. We bought these for spring our cat litter tray, and being made of corn starch, you know they are going to break down fairly quickly once disposed of. Up until now I was just putting the litter straight in the bin because I didn't want to use plastic bags. However, as you would expect, this makes for a pretty unpleasent bin. With these we can ditch the poo in the bin and not worry about the smell of the damage to the environment caused by plastic bags.

These bags are strong enough and we'll up to the task, provided you can get them open! I am so fed up with the struggle of trying to open these bags, I've tried rubbing them in my hands, breathing on them to warm them etc but nothing usually works and I end up ripping them slightly to get them open, which then makes them less effective for the job! So frustrating, I've resorted to putting this purchase down to an accepted fail. Never again.

I have a Great Dane and was worried that they wouldn’t be big enough to pick up his huge poops.The little rolls fit neatly in my pocket when I am out walking him and then strong and thick enough cover my hand and pick up his poop.Then there’s the peace of mind knowing that they will biodegrade and that your not adding to the plastic bag problem
