If you use VacuVin wine stoppers, you know that they help keep wine fresh by creating a vacuum between the wine and the stopper by pumping out the air. You cannot 'over-pump' the vacuum as the pump starts clicking once there is no air left in the bottle. Sadly the Vacuvin container, while using the same pump, is made of plastic and not glass (unlike a wine bottle) and over-pumping will lead to the plastic shattering. As a result, you have to pump carefully and cannot do so until the point there is no air left in the container - as guideline, they suggest 4 pumps for a full container and 8 if it is half-full. This approximation leads to some deterioration in whatever you store in the container. If it was made of glass, I would have given it five stars.

Works ok, but, would be good if the pump or lid could tell you when you've pumped out sufficient air. Worried I'll over pump. When you do the number of pumps indicated in instructions it doesn't feel like you've removed any air at all!
