TimeguardTG24 24 Hour Compact Plug-In Segment Time Controller, White

Does what it's made for
I have a Time Guard TG77 electronic timer that continues to operate after eleven years, therefore, Time Guard had to be my choice. As I only need another timer to switch on and off twice a day at the same time to control a small 500 watt heater in the kitchen for the winter months, I bought this TG24 Manual Time switch. They are simpler to programme than electronic versions. The timer is programmed by pushing all the segments down for the ‘On’ position for the duration needed, and leaving all the segments up for the ‘Off’ position for the duration needed. On doing so I found that one segment stubbornly would not press down. I then found that by setting the switch located on the side to override the programming, I could then press this naughty segment down, and then return the switch to the programmed mode. I could not find any reference to this in the instruction leaflet, so perhaps this is just a one-off peculiarity for my time switch; anyway all was well. The Timer is quiet in operation (some timers make a ticking sound), and has kept good time, although it is my experience that many timers ‘stray’ after a period of time, as they don’t have Rolex movements. It is however a simple task to turn the ‘time of day’ dial to adjust the timer. Works for me.

Works brilliantly
Previous timers I've had haven't been accurate or reliable, probably because they were made in China. This one is excellent. Its easy to use, accurate, quiet and appears to be of a good quality because its made in England. Arrived the day after I made the order.

Not all timers are the same - these are the best you can buy!
Sturdily made, don't overheat in use, easy and not too fiddly to programme, quiet in operation! There are many brands available, but Timeguard are the only ones to buy! I bought one to try, immediately threw out all my old ones (from B&Q) and replaced the lot. VERY good product!

Works well though difficult to plug a plug in
This works well, but the internal screen inside the plug (to stop little fingers entering) does no easily move aside when you push the 3-pin plug in so it is a bit of a battle to get it in. Otherwise, it does as it says on the tin.

Reliable.
I bought this because of its compact size and simple mechanism. Unlike some segment times this one has kept good time and so does not need regularly resetting. The segments are quite stiff to move.I am pleased with it and would buy another.

Very poor quality
I previously purchased 2 Timeguard electronic timers and both failed within a few months. I thought buying a segment controller would have less to go wrong. This one lost around 2 hours a day so went straight in the bin. Will find a better quality manufacturer in future.

A good, compact mechanical timeswitch.
This is a nice, simple mechanical timeswitch. Easy to set, and no problems switching CFL or LED bulbs like so many modern timeswitches. The only improvement I can think of is for it to have an override to manually switch it on or off which resets at the next timed switching event. My old time switches used to have this and it was very useful for manually overriding the automatic switching just for the current period.

Easy to use
Easy to use - I use it all the time when I use my slow cooker. Would recommend.
